Posts: 215 Location: Downers Grove, IL | Boy, this website sure is a far cry from what it once was with respect to traffic and discussions around musky fishing. I saw this a couple days ago and thought someone would post by now. Quite a fish! https://www.outdoorlife.com/fishing/world-length-record-muskie-weston/

Posts: 2325 Location: Chisholm, MN | We all know much bigger fish have been caught, so records like this mean nothing to anyone who knows anything about big muskies.

The story mentioned something about an "approved" device for measuring. What that?

Posts: 7037 Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | Great fish. Didn't realize people travel the world to catch record fish. Beyond that, who really cares about records (especially length) in muskie fishing? I mean, other than Larry.... 3,2,1....seeing how long it takes for him to chime in here.

Posts: 215 Location: Downers Grove, IL | Regardless of other 57's and 58's caught, I think it's a #*^@ impressive catch and a pretty big level of commitment to cast out into the darkness and cold at the end of October, into Mille Lacs; which is these days, a needle in a hay stack proposition to begin with. Not for me, but it's sure cool to see and read about.

Do you know that for certain or are you making an assumption? I didn't read anything about live scoping in the article. Either way, you sound petty and jealous. It's a nice fish, seems to have been caught legally and released. I like big fish pictures and their stories, especially this time of year. I have no axe to grind here, but if you do, please elaborate. Maybe I'm missing something.

Of all the people that might be jealous, BNelson certainly ain't one of them.

Just Google : “ Muskie Record Holder Talks ‘Power’ Fishing Tactics” This “guide” has more electronics on his boat than a nuclear submarine did in the 90’s … it’s not a live scope it’s multiple…but hey I thought SI was a terrible advancement as well, you could see the writing on the wall!! Before long the electronics will make the cast for you too? Yippee fun for the video game crowd I guess? Edited by IAJustin 11/8/2024 6:36 AM

Don't live under a rock, but don't follow the guy on social media, nor have meet or seen him fishing; or however you guys get your info on how he (or anyone else) fishes. A friend just sent me the article and I was impressed with the fish. If what you're saying is true and that he's armed to the teeth with FFS and doesn't cast to anything he doesn't see on the screen, then yes, I agree. I'm not a fan, and don't/won't practice that way of fishing. It certainly takes away from this catch, in my opinion. But to each their own, I guess.
