Posts: 32884 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | The snow cover will be gone by tomorrow night, and the weather channel says rain nearly all of next week. This is looking better and better every day. Maybe by Wisconsin's fishing opener, we will actually have soft water up here! What are conditions where you wet a line?

Posts: 1265 Location: Stevens Point, Wi. | Same here in Point. Right now I'm grillin brats. The yard is one large lake. Might sneak out after dark and try a few casts in the slush. Don't need the neighbors to get any more confirmation that I'm nuts.

Posts: 3862 | You know the spring thaw is here when the drunken Yoopers start burning their ice shacks down. And local skies are dark with smoke.

Posts: 1023 Location: Lafayette, IN | Maybe the natural lakes near Warsaw,IN will be fit in another week or two. Not much current to break up the ice. Down here near Lafayette the eyes are bitin' and the silvers should be schooling above the dam in Freeman. Speaking of dam, I worked in the yard all day today....so I can go fishing later of course.

Posts: 578 Location: Sheboygan Falls, WI | Have the boat out in the driveway now. I took the cover off today and sat behind the wheel with my polarized glasses on and my hat on backwards thinking of where I wish I could be. Batteries are in her and I even hit the key to hear her almost turn over; just once though to just hear that sound. My wife drove in the driveway, got out of the Blazer and said, "Still a little too much snow and ice for that, isn't there dear?" Well, with a couple feet of ice and a foot of snow in places on the ground here in Rhinelander, I must agree it will be a while. The snow is disapearing very quickly though. My therm. on the back of the house in the shade read 62 in the shade today. It may not have been quite that, but I am sure it was pretty darn close. I also ended up at Rollie and Helens and Guides Choice today. Of course, I ended dropping a few bucks on "must have" baits; like I need anymore. The ski's at Guides Choice were hot! hot! hot!! Tom Dietz, my son and I feed them and the rest of the fish. My son noticed the "almost full" moon on the way home. Maybe this had something to do with some of the action. PLEASE LET SOFT WATER COME SOON!!! My wife needs to kick me out of the house and onto the water for a while; I am driving her nuts. Musky boxes sitting next to my recliner yet with new hooks getting sharpened and others getting touched up. THINK WARM THOUGHTS!! Chuck

Posts: 32884 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | My driveway is almost clear today, Sunday. It is in the low 60's today. I know, this is Northern Wisconsin, and it WILL get cold again. Until then, I am dreaming of soft water..

Posts: 32884 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | The snow is gone, and rian tonight will knock out any still in the woods. If it doesn't get really cold, the fishing opener here is a safe bet!
