Posts: 205 | Are mag dawgs to heavy for 6600 C4 even if I thumb the spool? I have one for top waters and wanted to use it for dawgs also.

Posts: 210 | I think maybe not. Before I retired my 6500's (8 C3's), I needed to keep spare reels in my boat. I even tore up a 7000 iCS! Since switching to Saltist 20's and 400 TE's, I've not needed to take my spare reels out of storage.

Posts: 1405 Location: Detroit River | When I first started jigging Bondy Baits I had a brand new C4 that lasted only 3 hours. They don't hold up to use with heavy baits.

That C4 is really only good for topwaters in my opinion. It's a nice reel but can't take the abuse of most muskie lures on the market. I had a C4 and it broke pretty easily. Might want to upgrade to a revo toro nacl.

Posts: 246 | I use an ABU 7000 but it's very slow on the pick up during the retrieve, I look like a mad man trying to keep up. One accidental tap of the handle during a cast and that C4 would detonate when throwing a mag dawg.

Hard to beat the new saltists for big rubber, I know I love mine when it comes to that. I'm only planning to sell mine because it doesn't handle lighter stuff, like crankbaits and un-weighted flashabou blades very well.

Posts: 415 | I use a Revo Toro HS 60 and love it for rubber. I tend to be a little rougher on my equipment than most and this reel has held up the last two years for me with no failures.

Posts: 5 | I have a lexa 300 high speed that I throw mag dawgs on and love it, you can get them fairly cheap on ebay too. But I'm going to grab a 400 for this next season and try that out
