Posts: 32935 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | That was about a 4.5# average. It took almost 28# with 5 fish to take the win.

Location: Green Bay, WI | The Swan - 5/11/2013 8:54 AM Where is Sturgeon Bay? Beautiful fish. It's about 45-50 miles or so up the Door Country peninsula from Green Bay. The area from little Sturgeon Bay (about 6-8 miles south of Sturgeon Bay) up the East side of the bay of Green Bay is a world-class smallmouth fishery. I don't know how far up the bay they can be caught, but I've heard guys talk about fishing well North of Sturgeon Bay. There always seems to be muskies caught each Spring by bass guys, and many of them are well over 50". It's beautiful country, but the bay can get very rough--and it's been very windy here in the past few days. So I hope those guys didn't bring bass boats. TB

Location: Green Bay, WI | I sort of thought it went up pretty far actually. In fact, I've spoken to some pretty experienced guides that fish bass well North of Sturgeon Bay, and they've told me a few stories about seeing HUGE muskies while bass fishing. BIG girls, following smallies slowly right to the boat and just hanging there. No idea how big, but a couple of these guys also guide muskies--so I'd think they have a pretty good idea of what really big muskies look like in the water, given where they spend their work days. Big 'uns up there, I hear... TB

Posts: 68 | I love fishing the upper Flambeau River for smallies. I've caught a couple of 20"ers and my wife caught a 22". Not sure the weight since I didn't bring a scale and we CPR'd the smallies.
