I have decided to escape hunting down any deals on Flat Screen TV's or OutDoor Equipment and spend today on the water. It looks to be windy (15+mph) and cold (20-30). With the wind it shall make things sporty from the landing to reels freezing up.
Does anyone care to share some tips on how they stay safe and beat the elements when on the water in cold conditions.

Nut up or shut up!!! Just kidding! I just stayed in and watched reruns of musky hunter this morning. That wad pretty safe! My advise is to have a few pairs of dry gloves along.

(I will start)

My fingers are usually what get cold first. I try to keep them dry and use "vinyl gloves" under my gloves and use them to rig up suckers. This seems to help some, but I ualso have a heater to help them out.

I also carry salt/sand mix for icey boat landing conditions and always wear my self infalting pfd in the boat and around landing.

The purple windshield fluid in a squirt bottle thaws reels and bow mounts on contact.

The best gloves that I have found are the Seirus X-treme. I have terrible circulation in my hands when the temp's drop and these gloves were worth avery penny! Thin enough to cast and hold the rod. Good luck.

I tried on the Seirus X-treme recently, very warm and thin profile. Didn't shell out the $40.00 but they are on my radar. Looked real nice. I was afraid of ruining the thumb when casting (backlash control) other than that looked great as a functioning set of gloves without sacrificing much sensitivity. OK, on to the lake I go.

I got some neoprene gloves from rei that are made for kayaking. They fit really tight even around the wrist and I can thumb the spool without any problems.

I have another pair of mountain hardwear gloves that are thin but I haven't had a chance to use them yet but I'll be out Sunday and give them a try.

OK... I went out and soaked a couple suckers. The gusting wind made boat control tough but manageable. The biggest problem I had was my line guides freezing up and my reel icing up during casting. I was able to keep switching out rods and keep one in front of the heater to defrost while I used the other rod. I either had to dip my guides into the water (40 degrees to thaw the ice or blow on them evry 10 minutes to keep fishing. Overall uneventful but I found baitfish stacked up in a feeder creek thick as theives breaking sureface every cast!

Mittens with hand warmers,Mustang Survival Suit, ear muffs with hand warmers over the trolling reels to keep the dragwashers from freezing,Reel Majic to spray line on reel spool to keep from freezing,MRE's to eat and Honda Generator & Electric Blanket /Tarp incase you get stuck in snow storm and have to spend the night.Today 50+ mph wind, big waves,if your not on the water you don't have a chance at extreme fatties!

Too windy for me to fish suckers.... I recently found out today that 2 or 3 Under Armor long sleeve cold gear shirts will keep you nice and toasty through 30 degree temps and 20mph winds

Not too cold up here.

Was actually quite a bit less snow at the lake than at my house. Got probably 10" in town, drifts over my knees in the yard.

The Seirus Extreme gloves that a few of you really like - they make several versions called this. Which one specifically - Gote Tex? Mid weight or lightweight?

If the season is still open, the fish are still eating and ice has not set, I am on the river here in Stevens Point. I'm glad I battled the wind and temperatures the last couple days. It has paid off.
