I damaged a blade on one of my DC 10's.

I have an idea and am interested in your thoughts. I'm just going to remove that blade and clevis and try it as a "single bladed DC 10".

Would it work? Am I missing anything. I assume that the blade would turn over much easier at the the start of the retrieve - something that has always bugged me about any double-blade bucktail was it coming in "flat" (eg; blades not spinning)

Although I don't have a way to verify, I believe that the vibration footprint would also be different.

sometimes with larger blades, solo will cause the whole bait to wobble- but if you get the spacing and whatnot right they run fine. single 10's are great cause not many throw them- something different

Eric...and a wobbling single 10 would be bad why???? ;o)

back when d10s came out I screwed around with single 10s quite a bit.... one nite I had a guy in my boat throwing a single 10 and I threw a double...fishing behind my double he got a 43"er at night.... they work.... and I'd be throwing double or single 10s that wobble...

Single 10's have been around for a long time, and definitely catch fish. Was catching fish on home made single 10's long before anyone thought of the crazy idea to put 2 of those dudes on there. :). Wish I would have been the crazy one to throw the second blade on. haha.

Regardless, single 10s definitely work, and if I recall correctly, Larry Dahlberg or maybe Senior Worrall did an underwater study that showed that the singles were actually louder then the doubles. I could be wrong though.

you are right, Dahlberg did the sound testing and the single #10 blade produced a louder thump that the double 10's

I had Gerry Carroll build me a single ten this summer with a .040 blade.  I love it!  Runs as true as the day is long.

Single 10's and 12's are very nice to use over submerged weeds. It's easy to run them shallower (if they're not weighted).

Singles pull a little harder too... been using them for over 20 years. I use both singles and doubles now, but I can understand your concern because it even feels like I'm shortchanging myself somehow with a single nowadays.

Single 10's were some of my best big fish producers for over 12 years before the double 10 craze hit. I still kick myself for never putting two of them on, but tip my hat to those that finally did. With that said, I still run singles as I have certain situations where they simply shine.

No reason to think they wouldn't work. My most productive double 10's are so beat up that the blades don't spin right anymore. In fact I don't even like them until they'be been bent up a few times.
