Muskies are big fish so why the need to hold them up to the camera to make them look bigger? I'm just curious why so many people think its necessary to push a 50 inch fish so close to the lens when it looks like a monster if held right to their body...?

Every musky is a success in my mind but I don't understand the need to push its snout up to the camera....

It's called creative photography. If the size of the fish is listed, I see no issue.

Steve - Those are the opposite of my point. Phenomenal pictures of fish but not held with straight elbows.

Yeah why would someone want to make their fish look big in a picture?

What a silly idea and concept!

............really?!

If it's not hurting anyone who cares. It is their photo, they can take it however they choose. If I want to put a red rubber glove on my head and stick a feather duster up my butt when I take a picture of a fish it's my right to do so. (you match fishing guys feel free to use that as one of your "object in the picture" thingy)

.............Yes, really.

Holding a fish from different angles is one thing but holding it next to the lens is different.

Ego? Self-Esteem?

You can put rubber anywhere in or on your body which is also legal.

The fish pic is all I really want to see anyway. Unless there is cool scenery in the background. I don't care to see what anyone's boat looks like or what clothes they are wearing. I always have the fish take up the whole lens view. I don't do that to make the fish look bigger. I do it to get a great close up look at the fish. I could give a rats azz about whether anyone disputes the size I'm claiming. Just as I take someone else's claim of size with a grain of salt. If it's a nice fish, that's all that matters!

Seriously? Maybe some people need a photography class. I was gonna actually post a thread on this only with the opposite point. Who cares how big the fish is? It makes a picture look way better to hold the fish to the camera. It shows detail on the fish too. ITS NOT ABOUT MAKING THE FISH LOOK BIG. Its about saving a memory! Cover the screen with the fish and just have the fisherman's head in the pic. You don't need all that other stuff like the boat in the picture.

I like to see all of the "other" stuff in my photos as it helps me to fully remember the experience...JMO

All of these posts just show how everyone's taste are different when it comes to having a picture taken of their fish. Who cares what others do, it's not your's? I don't see why there are so many people who want to start an argument about something that doesn't affect them at all. This site has become way too judgemental as of late instead of a place where someone can post a picture, ask a question or seek advice without being berated.

I hold them way out for a photo. I make my 35's look like 45's. I have more friends because of it and feel totally better about myself. I was able to cut back to 4 sessions a week with my therapist.

Same reason some pump out their chests...they want to look bigger/better.

And someone mentioned about as long as the size is listed....well, I'd be willing to bet that most view their "creative photography" before they list the size too...lol
