| I've been buying assorted $50 junk for years. I go through about two a year with the same stripped gears. What is your favorite reel, how long does it last? Make me believe I should spend more on a reel or just keep 3 cheap backups.[:(] |

| I sure like the Garcia C3, it is always there and is priced very reasonably.

| I had always like my abu's until this year, One I bought last year and one I bought this year are falling apart. I personally think a reel should last longer than that. By the way, they are a 6500c4 and a 6500c3 |

| Spidercast SPC900. I've been using them for 3 years, both fresh and saltwater with great success. It throws the 5" Slammer Crankbaits with the same ease as the monster jerkbaits. |

| Floater, buy the best reels that you can afford. One good reel is less money than 3 to 4 cheap ones. I fish the Shimano Calcutta's. These have been the best reels that I have ever owned. I still have some of my older 6500 Garcias for back up but I like the Shimano's much better. I do, however, own several rod and reel combinations so, one set up does not see all of the hours that it would if I only had one or two outfits. A word of warning also, the Shimano Corsair has had some problems in the past. Seems that the new ones are ok, but I know that the Calcuttas are great. Expensive, but well worth the money in my estimation. |

| Thanks for the replys. After I posted, Jason, brought back the reel review from last year. This all has helped.I like the word workhorse with the mid priced garcias but the answers I was looking for was from Muskieone and others on the review about the calcutta. I'll just tell the wife "I need it"[:halo:] |

| Stil crazy bout my Zebco 202 w/hoghandler.I welded the spider gears,chucked that old fartanium drag washer for a thick chunk of,leather,and yes used a heat gun to give it that custom look.Got to set my hair on fire now............................Razer |

| I've been using the new Abu C5 on my bucktail rod this year and I really like it. Very smooth and I really like the thumb bar for casting. Anyone else had a chance to use a C5 out there and what did you think?

Floater
Spend the 200 bones on the Calcutta 400 - You won't
need to replace it for 10+ years.
It will give you years of smooth and constant action.
I've had mine now for 7 seasons and never had an issue.
Simple light cleaning and a drop of oil here and there.
Out of guilt from years of abuse I sent it into the
factory for service with instructions to replace any
worn or marginal components and the free Dartanium drag
washer upgrade ? why it needed an improved drag ? who
knows. For $14.50 they tore it down and completely cleaned and relubed/regreased the reel.They enclosed a note of "no
need for any components all are in fine condition"
For $200.00 it's cheap - you never fix it, break it
and clean it out of guilt - not need.
My CORSIAR 400's are great disposable reels you buy once.
I bought one, then send it back every year for a new one !!
Four years in a row I've got a brand-spankin' new reel
in the packaging and my old reel spool+line included !!!
Shimano's customer service is second to none
