HELP ME OUT

Subject: Fishing bibs

Hey guys. I got a pair of red fishing bibs for christmas this year and need some help. Even though that was the only color they have, I was wondering do I keep them or take them back? I've heard stories about people saying that wearing red you are more apt to be seen by fish. What do you guys think? Thanks.

Funny storie about red gear. I've got a red ranger jacket that I love and wear everywhere opening weekend this year on Sunday I'm washing baits and getting follows but as soon as I start my 8 the fish would bolt not just a few like 10 of the stupid things I finaly got so peeed I threw mu beloved red ranger jacket on the floor 2 cast later I nail a 49" on the 2nd turn of the 8. But I've also caught some fish wearing a blaze ornge sweat shirt. I would say that if you could exchange them it can't hurt any.

For what its worth, there's quite a few big fish being held here by people wearing red.

Personally, I think quick movements are going to spook fish long before the color of your clothes.

I guess it would really suck if you had a red boat then! I think sometimes we anglers WAY over think these fish.

It's just an opinion but I believe wearing bright colors can scare fish off at the boat. Whenever I fish I try to wear neutral colors and match the sky conditions. I wear a lot of blues, greys, whites and have found that I catch a lot more fish at the boat. It could be that I've gotten better at musky fishing in general or better at boat side but I have caught more fish when I wear neutral colors. Can you catch fish with bright colored clothes? Of course, but I just feel more confident when I wear neutral colors.

Like jason stated, if it cost you one fish it could be the right fish. Fish to pick up on movement, and noise and the brighter the clothing the more you will standout and easier to for the fish to pick up movement. Yes you will still catch fish with bright colors, but why lower your %

I don't think its a marketing ploy, I've pondered the question myself about color. I've caught fish wearing my favorite red badger hat. You hear people on both sides.

IMO the color of your clothing doesn't matter. Unless your night fishing then you should wear white because you'll get a better outline of your catch when its photo time.

When they want your lure it doesn't matter if your wearing hot pink, they have one thing in mind your lure, not what your wearing.

I think the people that are having trouble with fish bolting off are due to other problems. did they catch ya off guard? jerky body movements, poor figure 8's, rod hit the boat, etc. I have wore red for years, and the times the fish took off are because of something I did.

If you are smooth in what you are doing when a fish is at the boat, that's what matters not what you wear.

I scared off so many fish my few years it wasn't even funny. I'd like to blame the colors I was wearing, but I doubt that had much to do with it. A light blue shirt against a blue sky makes sense, and it certainly won't hurt to try to use neutral colors, but I'd suspect if fish are bolting on the 8, it's more about what you are doing than what you are wearing.

I wouldn't take back a set of bibs just because of that.

Skyline would be the optimum, however anything we wear really doesn't matter because we move. If the fish is hot for the lure I don't think that color matters. I wonder why a fish would chase a chartreuse lure to the boat and then run from the Jolly Red Giant. Better camo the boat too.
The trick is getting them to hit before thay see you.
It's all a mystery wrapped in a conundrum.
