Subject: Lax Reproductions does it again!

i recently stopped at Lax and picked up the repro of a nice walleye from last year. i just got it up on the wall in the Muskie Bar next to my muskie for pics, and thought i'd share it with everyone. great job Rick, thanks!

while at the shop, Rick gave us the grand tour, showing us everything from his production line for making and painting the fish, to the very impressive collection of big fish molds of all species that he's collected. with so many molds at his disposal, he can make a replica of your fish right down to the 1/4" of length and girth, with plenty of options as far as body position, shape, and driftwood effects.

if you ever have the time to stop in the store in Conover, WI, i highly suggest you do so - Rick is a great guy to talk fish with and is genuine about wanting to make his customers happy.

Lax Reproductions has been a huge supporter of MuskieFirst and all things catch-and-release, and the Lax Big Fish Contest is even more popular this year than last year. get your big fish (45" or bigger) in for your chance to win a free replica! http://muskie.outdoorsfirst.com/cnr_about.asp

if you're fortunate enough to get a "replica-worthy" fish this year, i suggest that you give Rick and his team a call. i'm happy that i did! http://laxreproductions.com/ (715) 547-3710

I agree! I picked up a walleye for Muskymaj early this year. Rick was more than happy to show me around, all over the studio. neat to see the entire shop! great to share airbrush tips with a master of realism. It is a must see, whenever you are in the area!

Are those musky shaped park benches? I like the looks of those, but think the homeless might find them uncomfortable for sleeping.

I'm girthy.

reprodutions. I agree they look nice and last longer possably but!!! To me the fins on repos look way to thick. Maybe just to picky but its my dime.

i've got a skin-mount walleye as well for comparison, and as you say, the fins are ever-so-slightly thicker. of course, most of the time i'm viewing the repro from more than 6" away and it's not noticeable.

it also means that i could release the fish alive, and that's way more rewarding than a thin-finned skin mount.

Rick's paint job is stunningly good, the mouth and eye detail are tremendous.

Thanks for the comments! I truly do LOVE what I do and hopefully is shows in my work.

To Don – Thanks for the comment on the fins. It’s down right honest comments like yours that push me and my team to find new and better ways to create reproductions.

Lambeau – The fish looks great on the wall. Happy to hear you are pleased with it.

Every time I look at that last photo with all of those muskies laid out on my ground in front the studio I have a flashback. If you all could have seen me and my team running like chickens with our heads cut off trying to move 60 plus mounts from the wall to the outdoors you would have laughed your butts off!!!! Whew…..glad that’s over. Of course, we had to pick one of the hottest days of the summer to take that photo.

BlackAttackAndy;
I have a Reproduction from Lax of my Goon fish, and he nailed it right to a T from the photograph. The reason your post is removed is because:
1) Not true, and
2) A rude and uncalled for attempt to bash a truly talented artist.

If you want to answer questions, ask questions, join the conversation in a constructive manner, you are more than welcome.

As I said, unless that walleye came from some other place other than here in Wisconsin

it was, in fact, caught in MN.
as i said, i'm quite happy with the replica. i think it well represents the fish i caught.
