Definitelly black works the best in clear water.

I prefer a black/white combination bucktail with the plain silver blade, not the silver scale. I also like willow leaf bladed bucktails because of they run deeper on the retrieve. Kdawg

Theres a growing number of guys producing decent fish on Crow with mepps silver blade with red hair or maribou. ive taken that to a couple other places and starting to produce as well.

Black tail with a black blade. Maybe a few spots on the blade like the big Mepps Black Fury. Or a natural tail like a squirrel tail. Tube tails like Rizzo's work well in clear lakes too.

I've done well with BucherTails, Black hair, and Silver blade. Brown Hair seems to work well too. I like natural colors in clear water. I'm not a fan of bright colors here.

This is what works for me:

Silver Prism Blade/Black tail or Silver Prism/Black & white tail (need the red feather)
Silver Prism Blade/ Red Tail
Silver Blade/ White Tail
Nickel Blade/ Gray Tail

I'm with Jonesi on this! Red/yellow with flame blade kicks tail. It's not to bad in stained water either.

Sounds like just about any colour works to me, everyone has had some luck with their favorite. Maybe we fish harder with colours we have a lot of faith in?

Joe Wishin

P.S. I do like red/yellow with flame blade though, white with red blade is good too, can't argue with black and silver either.
