Caught this 41" no more than 2 minutes after dropping the sucker overboard!

Nice!

I got to fish Cave Run for two days with Ky Dave Smith. He's got a great rig and profound knowledge of the lake. We moved several fish, saw several more moving around us, but never got a hook in one. Story of my life on that lake, I did feel better to find that most locals think this is one of the toughest Fall bites they can remember. Still, two great days on a fine lake with a new fishing friend is certainly something I'm very grateful for. Hanging out with Tony's always a blast, too. m

The wife (Lori/ Lolleitta) and I were able to exercise our rights under the second ammendment, and sharpen our marksmenship skills, in hopes of actully scoring some venison next weekend, as well as i shooting my bow two days in a row, which, as much as I hate to admit, was not shot in three years.

Fished Lake Tomahawk on Saturday and even with cisco's jumping around us for 2 hours, we didn't even see a fish. Sunday headed to Fence on the LDF chain, high winds made it difficult to stay on the spots, so fished the smaller lakes and boat partner caught his PR on a dawg.
Also, I interested in "trying" to fish the weekend after Thanksgiving if anyone has past experience on a late-ice lake list. Thanks...

Nice fish fellas. Despite fighting a cold/sinus infection, I managed to get out a bit yesterday afternoon for about 3 hours. No fish, but it looks like I still have some time - water temps were 47F. But it's snowing today... I usually have til about mid-December.

Hit pewaukee on Sunday. My bow mount took a dump 10 minutes into the trip. Next spring I will be getting an optama. Tried drifting and trolling but didnt see a fish. Thats it for me, I'm putting down the boat for a long winters nap and getting out the deer rifle. It's going to be tuff to outdo last years deer hunt, I had 3 down by 7:10 opening day last year, 2 does and 1 buck.
Plan on spending most of the winter on Musky first and standing on the hard water.

Weather was pitiful on Friday so we couldn't make the trip we'd planned. Had to stick a bit closer to home. I need a new boat!!! We had my bilge running for 3.5 hours straight in the afternoon with 3-4' rollers coming over my bow regularily. We tried fishing out of the wind, but only got bit in it, and had to stick it out....UGGHH. Sucks when the waves crash over and turn to ice on the carpet. Learned to dance quite nicely on my small front deck(more I think about it maybe a bigger deck for skating up front wouldn't be such a bad thing...lol...). Heading to the landing on the south side of the lake(in the wind) for lunch we saw 3 or 4 muskies up on top of the waves. I was trying to avoid a piece of brush or wood when we saw the first one wasn't a piece of brush or wood. Anyone ever see this? We started to fish shallower in the colum all for the next couple days and that saved us. Nothing huge, with 46,and 44.5, and 44 the big ones, but we probably would have only gotten one small one had we not switched up. It was riled up, with sand and mud from the wave action beating the shallows, and the driving snow made it tough to beleive they'd be up and about in that stuff. Not sure if they were just plain 'stuck' up in the froth(almost appeared that way), or up in it for a reason.

I want to thank ToddM for his awesome Floroucarbon leaders. 90% of the fish we've hooked this fall have been on his terminal ends. I have noticed better lure action(on spinners cranks and rubber that is), and action from fish with them in the clearer stuff. I used to be a naysayer on the FLoro. Not anymore. How long will one of these leaders last? I notice they get a bit 'flattened out' on the ends where they are pulled on. Does this affect the integrity?

Hey Jason, I use a 100lb fluoro, that stuff was t-boned in a 49's mouth this fall, I couldnt pull it out as hard as I tried, and it didnt cut from raking it accross his teeth, I finally had to pry his Yap open and pick it out with a pair of pliers, Thats when I knew how strong that stuff is. You just gotta make sure when you do get nicks in it, you retie a new one. I too have caught a lot of fish using fluro this year, not one bad instance yet,
