Posts: 355 Location: Wausau, Wisconsin | See some awesome photos of my day with Kevin Kapcinski from the WDNR as I volunteered to assist with pulling fyke nets today. AWESOME! http://www.hooksetters.biz/fishingreports.shtml

Posts: 2754 Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | Really nice photo's. Glad you had a great time! Also really nice clues as to where one should target these fish! I learned a hard lesson two years ago, i.e., posting my muskie spot's on the web. You probably will regret this post as the spot for the net is pretty obvious........ Al

Location: WI | Al That spot is hardly secret, go there in he fall sometime and you will see a huge parade of boats trolling that small section of the river all day long at times its pretty much take a number and get in line, its pretty sad.

Posts: 355 Location: Wausau, Wisconsin | If you can hop in a boat and see fyke nets out of the water with a flag that says "DNR", I don't think its a secret. If you can go the the boat launch and watch biologists measure fish and tell you about the nets, I don't think it matters. Season is closed, fish are dropping their eggs, and in three weeks, they wont be there. I'm not going to apologize with sharing my "musky porn" with others. I wasn't doing it as a favor to myself. I put in a lot of time to share them. I didn't catch them, it certainly doesn't boost my ego. Edited by 8inchcrank 5/4/2006 5:48 PM

Posts: 2754 Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | 8 in" - No appology needed. I didn't say or imply you were out for an ego boost. I really hope you had a good time. Just some advice- take it or leave it! I know from hard experience that posting to much information here or anywhere else on the www about your muskie fishing spot's, etc can be detrimental. Just how far do they move from their spawning spot's??????????? I'll bet there are boats all over that spot when the season opens, including a few that wouldn't have been there without seeing the post's. According to the MF data as of this morning ~ 170 people have read this post. How many boats went by the nets & knew what they were? Ok- It's no big secret- now it's much less of a secret! I'm outta here- have fun in 2006. Hope you catch a pig! Al

Posts: 5874 | Am I missing something here? The only recognizeable thing I see is the Fox Point Launch, and the shoreline across from it. I seriously doubt that this spot will be full of boats this opener. Actually, I hope it is.

Posts: 2691 Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | This is one of the most publisized spots I have seen in the last two years. I love the pictures and thank 8inchcrank for his time to get these out to us. This spot or river is full of muskies and muskie fishermen. No secret anymore, maybe 3 or 4 years ago. Thanks for the pics, VERY COOL. Anyone that thinks this spot is easy to score fish, just fish it and get in line, it gets old. I have not fished it for 2 years. I fell in love with it 4 years ago. Times change, hype kills the "hot Spots". The fish are there in Spring and then can travel out into Green Bay. Good luck finding them, you have to put your time in and learn the spots in the bay or get in line on the river. Shep, get out there and learn the zones. Big fat muskies are waiting for you.

Posts: 5874 | Oh Extreme One, I thought you hated it. After all, you were the boat biotch the two times I got skunked prior to last year! As Mike said, thanks for the pics, Justin. And anyone that thinks it's as easy, well, I actually hope we have another year like last year. That will thin out the numbers of boats. And yes, I will spend more time out on the Bay this year. I've seen the fish out there plenty. I just need muskie baits out. Stay tuned, fans.

Posts: 1185 Location: Wishin I Was Fishin' | I wish I could have been there to help handle and make muskies.....very cool stuff. Thanks for the great pics. What is the story with the deformed back....I have caught a few eyes up there like that too. Is it too much nuclear runoff? I think it is completely amazing that the muskies in the bay are established enough to be able to harvest the eggs to keep this extraordinary program going.
