Posts: 2427 Location: Ft. Wayne Indiana | The Rattlin' Shads are 4 inches long and weigh a total of 1.25 ounces. They come with triple Wolverine spilt rings and VMC hooks so they are ready to burn right out of the package, nothing to change out. One thing to remember with these lures is to use a short leader, 6 inches is what I like to use, and attatch it to the Rattlin Shad with a split ring and not a snap. Also shallow water is a must, shallow flats, the back of bays, the mouth and surrounding areas of a creek channel, etc... BURN BURN BURN. Make sure you get these lures going as soon as it hits the water. I actually like to pull the lure towards me right as it hits the water to make sure it is going the second it hits the water.

| Do you sell by mailorder? There are no shops in my area that carry them. I would like a couple before I head to Kentucky in two weeks. -Scott in Northern New York | |||

Posts: 391 | From what I have read the rattle baits are mostly used in spring? I was curious as to when most people stop throwing them in favor of a bucktail or larger profile bait? Either water temps or due to a switch to larger forage after spawning has occurred? Also what are your most productive color rattlin shads for cave colored water? thanks kly Edited by kly 3/3/2004 12:44 PM

Posts: 1310 Location: Washington, PA | I believe Tony and the boys throw them when water temps are between 45-65 degrees. And they come with 2/0 VMC hooks. I think.

Posts: 2427 Location: Ft. Wayne Indiana | Water temps between 45 and 60 are usually the best, but temps above 60 will also produce fish as well. There are several colors that have been the best producers. The orange crawfish, the silver flash, chrome/black, threadfin, and fire tiger are my top choices and producers.
