Posts: 192 | If you had to pick one rod length and rating to throw everything excluding pounder size what would you choose? Length and lure ratings, not so much brand but your more than welcome to say what rod!! Thanks this should be interesting

Posts: 1084 Location: Aurora | Mine's a 9' TI XH with 6" off the tip and extended to 9' I had a 9' TI XH blank extended to 9'6" couple years back and it snapped 6" from the tip on the first cast. The builder removed a guide, adjusted spacing and put a tip on it and it's hands down my favourite all-arounder. Big reason is probably because of the reel that's on it of course but I can throw everything from a baby ghosttail to a mag dawg with it and work a 7" suick or WTD topwater ta boot. Had close to a season on it when the builder noticed i was still usin it and said, "you still usin that thing?" to which i replied, "oh yeah... i wish i knew how to quit this rod" and right there on the spot he named it Broke Back Mountain.

Posts: 2687 Location: Hayward, WI | Last year I got a Big Nasty and extended the handle to 18" which made it overall about 9'4". I threw almost everything on it and it did everything quite well. Really good Cowgirl and Mag Dawg rod but it can handle smaller than that and bigger. 11 inch Curly Sues work well on it. Pounders are a bit much but still do able if you have to.
