Posts: 238 | This a.m. I caught a bonus 32" pike while muskie fishing and used it to practice a self-portrait. (Obviously from the startled look on my face I need more practice.) I decided to keep the pike for a family fish fry so, in the name of science my boys and I did a little dissecting to reveal how incredibly tiny the esox brain really is. The attached pic shows me with the pike and an inset pic of the entire brain from this pike using a dime for comparison. I don't know about you, but it kind-of makes me feel pretty stupid for not being able to figure these things out most of the time. WOW! Posts: 8782 | They're pretty dumb. Anything that's going to eat a lure that looks, sounds, and moves NOTHING like it's normal food source can't be all that smart. That doesn't say much for us out there trying (and often failing) to catch the #*^@ things.

Posts: 34 | Keep all the hammerhandles you want, but release the bigger fish over 30" please! There are probably more 50" muskies than there are 40" pike, because all the pike get eaten once they hit 28 or 30 inches. I wish the same C&R ethic was applied to northerns as it is to muskie. A big pike is just as worthy of a fish as a muskie is.
