is the mojo musky 8'6"hvy (2-6 oz lures) rod similar to the 8'6" Hvy Legend tournament (2-6 oz lures) rod? Is the mojo musky effective for casting and retrieving double #9s all day? I'm looking for a rod that is 8'6" because my john boat sits so low in the water.

The sling blades way lighter and you can feel more. I actually picked them both up and was feeling the difference today at bass pro haha

did you test the stiffness of the rod tip? were they the same stiffness?

Yes they were the same. But the lightness of the sling blade is worth the extra cost

If the 8'6" H mojo has the same stiffness as the 7'6" H mojo I have, I think you might find its a little stiffer in the tip than the sling blade actually. Definitely a little lighter and better feel to the LT blanks vs mojo.

ah, can anyone else confirm that that mojo musky 8'6" Hvy is slightly stiffer than the sling blade?

Its going to feel stiffer because its a short rod

Tho Mojo is going to have a slightly stiffer feel in the tip because the action isn't as fast as the LT. With an action as fast as the LT the tip can be softer but still have the power to handle 6-8oz lures. The more moderate action of the mojo means the blank will have to be stiffer all the way to the tip.

The legends have nicer grips, are lighter, better balance, and more sensitive. For 9's the slingblade should rock. I still like big nasty best for 10s and up. If the price isn't a big deal you will be much happier with a legend.

I think you'll find that the Mojo will be heavier with a stiffer, less forgiving tip. The Legend rods are much lighter and the tip on the Sling Blade will be faster and more foregiving than the Mojo. They are two completely different animals.

The Mojo Split grib Heavy Action is 10.6 oz

The Sling Blade Split grip Heavy Action is 9.8 oz.

The difference is less than an oz.

For me personally (maybe it's me) I don't like either rod for throwing 8's & 10's as the tip is too soft IMO. When you go into the figure 8 with these rods it puts a lot of Lateral Stress on your hand holding the rod. I have found going to an XH doesn't put this lateral stress on my hand and I don't get as sore. I also don't like the split grip handles as they are longer and interfere with my cloths when I do figure 8s.

I fish LOTW three weeks straight and have tried both rods and actually returned them both, I now use a Premier 8'6" XH full core that I like much better.

I am sure others will disagree with me but I have put about a dozen guys onto this and it works well for us.

The legends come in split and full grip both. I also like a stiffer rod like nasty in a heavy model for me I think the xh is too stiff. It really can be personal preference if theres somewhere you can go play with a few of them you really should see what suits you best.

An XH will cause less fatigue in the 8, and a H will be better to cast, especially if using a reel like a saltist or trinidad.  Both have their advantages and it comes down to personal preference.

As for Mojo vs. LT, well there is a reason the LT is twice the price.

LT is better I've never had a guest tell me they'd like to continue using a Mojo after trying any LT and the Life time warrenty and better componates of the LT makes it worth the price. The difference in tip flex is very little the sling blade will flex a little further but that helps keep fish pinned. The stiffer Mojo is only stiffer because the flex isn't as even down the shaft.
