Posts: 165 Location: tHe LaKe Of PrIoR, mN | looked painful on the last big hook the method of pulling with the fishing line didn't work very good... The push it through method is the way to go because muskie lures have huge hooks/barbs would be the only option for us barbless would be nice in that situation huh

I have used the line method several times including with muskie hooks. Works great. I always push down on the skin to release the barb. Worked first try everytime

Posts: 906 Location: Canada | I can honestly say I didn't watch the video. I think I have seen it before though. I have been hooked pretty bad through the meat of my arm, bring or know where to find something with a small hole in it that you can lay on your skin and hold the skin down as you pierce the hook through the rest of the way. From there use your Knipex to cut the barb off and back the hook out, a dab of crazy glue on both holes and you're fishing again.

Posts: 1168 | A few swigs off a bottle of whiskey Clamp vice grips onto the hook Tell your buddy you are going to give it a yank on the count of 3 On the count of two yank hard (if you wait until 3 he'll tense up....gotta catch him by surprise) Endure the complaining that you pulled it out on 2 and not 3. Fire back at him that the hook is out isn't it? Finish off the bottle of whiskey Been there, done that.

Posts: 1144 Location: Minnesota. | I tried..but sorry I just can't watch that! 1970-71 VN combat vet...still a pansy!! I fish barbless except for spinnerbaits. If my boat partner or myself ever gets a hook in me it's gonna be a b!tch! I'll never say it's not going to happen cause that Murphy guy has got ears - and that's why they call them accidents but ...man...grit the teeth an' push her thru! Weirds me out just thinking about it. Edited by Jeremy 3/18/2013 3:00 PM

Posts: 68 | Had a pike throw a magnum zara spook right into the knuckle while fishing up at our cabin on Rainy Lake. Didnt want to chance tearing anything so decided to go in. After a nearly 30min boat ride and another 20min in the car it only took about 15min at urgent care. Bill there came out to somewhere under $250. Two months before in Chicago I had a SR7 make its way into my finger. Another one that I didnt want to do myself because the treble went sideways underneath my fingernail and partially coming out the top of it. By far the MOST painful hook to pierce my skin and that was only like a #6. Even more painful was the $2100 doctor bill. Needless to say I remove all my own hooks unless doing so may cause damage to extremeties or unbearable pain. Attachments ---------------- ![]()
