leech have only fished the lake once cought a 45.that was in portage bay.i made a deal with brother N law fish for muskies for 3 hrs in the morning in re turn ill fish for bait aka walleyes for the next 3. he has never hooked a musky , what were most of the muskys cought on during the tournament. ill put him up front give him the first shot at a fish. what would be the best bait since we fish for muskys first im thinking letting him use a top raider . my thought is if he gets one i wont have to fish for walleyes.where should i start . i dont want to fish walleyes

Haven't been on in a good while but saw your thread. Family took a vacation in mid-July to Leech. Can't go wrong with main lake reefs such as Pelican, Submarine, The Annex, etc. Get a small heavy bucktail with a chartreuse blade and burn it as fast as you can. Chad Cain was The Man for us. Bro and I caught 10 in a week and we weren't out that much.

My personal best, a 51" on an Ugly Girl (Supergirl knockoff that I made). My nephew was in the boat with us. Two 47's. My dad pictured. Great trip! Good luck on yours.

P.S. Thanks for your responses to bro re: skeeter mx1825. Looks fawesome.

One of the patterns that worked in the recent PMTT was burning smaller blades like Showgirls on shallow sand and shallow wind-blown shorelines. Now they had experienced a cold front prior to the tourney so it doesn't mean that will work again but it's one decent bet. As mentioned above the rocks should be going well also, and I agree - get him his first and he'll be more than willing to leave the bait alone.

Fishing leech so soon after leaving Mille Lacs I hope you gave the boat a good hot wash down, emptied the bilge, livewell, bleached it. Mille Lacs has zebras. Leech not yet.
Did ya?

Whew!!! Thanks for straightening me out.
But think of the guys who do go from one to the other on the same day . Here in Iowa I think about guys who go from Clear Lake to West Okoboji. It's only a matter of time- short time.

Fished all weekend, not much going on. Missed one boatside
And had a big one follow on spinnerbait. Tough conditions with 25mph
Winds on Saturday. Anyone else out there this weekend?

My brother guides on Leech and they caught some nice ones over the weekend. 4 yesterday I believe. He did mention the wind was brutal though Friday and Sat. Calmed down yesterday afternoon and they did well seeing some real pigs.

After a pretty dismal summer of casting, I banged out six fish in three days ( 32, 36, 43, 44, 46, 47) last week durring that big north wind. I can't wait for the next big blow! ( pictured 47, 46)
