Vision Quest![]() |

So I have a few days to go on a trip by myself in MN or WI the beginning of Sept. I want to fish sept 1 to sept 3. I will be sleeping in my car and perhaps getting a camp site to charge my batteries, but boat launch sleeping in not out of the question for me. I am calling this a vision quest because I will be by myself for this whole trip and had a dream about going on this trip last night which is why I am planning this. I was not going anywhere and was not planning on this trip until I woke up this morning. Now for the problem and why I am posting this: I am unsure where my vision quest should be. I normally go to MN the middle of july to the beginning of August so this end of august beginning of sept stuff is new to me. So what am I looking for: 1) Fun lake to fish, interesting stucture (not super boring!) 2) Good chance of contacting or catching fish 48+ with the untimate goal of 55+ Where should I go guys!!!!!!! Please help me with my vision quest. Thanks for your help! "Emilio Estoves"

Hard to reach that goal on water you know let alone try to dial it in over just a couple days. to find your vision, you must look within and call upon what you already know. If that doesn't help, lick a toad and see what happens. LOL. I'd head to MN though. 55+ is a tall order anywhere. I think your chances are better in MN. Green Bay would be only thing that makes sense in WI and that might qualify as "interesting". Now I am going to listen to "lunatic fringe" by red rider. thanks for the memories and best of luck on your trip. Sincerely, Matt Modine

You can't go wrong for $45/night, and you can launch free and be safe, with food and beverage easily accessible. You will have weeds and rocks to fish, and won't be wasting time on a big run during the "window". I have heard that there are some nice fish right out in front of the place. Thanks guys! I am looking at all kinds of ideas for my trip...all of the things and places mentioned here have come up all ready in my preperation. My next question is what are the temps like the end of August beginning of september on the big lakes in northern Mn. Cant wait to go fullfill the vision. Oh Yeah, How could I think emilio was the one in Vision Quest. Mathew Modine totally was in it...I think there is a movie where emilio was a wrestler or something when he was young....Oh SH** I just looked it up on IMDB and Breakfast club was the movie where Emilio was a wrestler. The minute I got on his page I realized it. Emilio was also in Men at Work and that is what I need to do, GET TO WORK!

Might be a drive if you only have a few days, but little fishing pressure and a very fishable interesting body of water. With a chance for a behemouth. BG

Posts: 1245 Location: Madtown, WI | Awesome scene you reminded me of Jono!! The scene in the dark room where mathew Modine is jumping rope and "lunatic Fringe" is playing....I got chills the first time I saw that...and still do when I listen to the song... Here is the scene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRfeK7jtvq0&feature=youtube_gdata Also like where the lady likes "big hands" and he points in front of her showing off his hands..... but I digress.... Good luck on your quest!! Cory Edited by C.Painter 8/11/2010 2:57 PM

Vision quest? For real? Who talks like that? "I am calling this a vision quest because I will be by myself for this whole trip and had a dream about going on this trip last night which is why I am planning this." This guy must have went to bed watching Monster Quest and then woke up with a screw loose. ![]()

Posts: 582 | I would suggest the chippewwa flowage in Hayward. You could even camp on an island. Plenty of water, plenty of scenery.

Posts: 1906 Location: Oconto Falls, WI | Vision Quest…An inspiration to the young wrestler I was at the time. Never warmed up like that though, except the jump rope. Ah yes, big hands…But as Cory I digress! As some others I would have to say with your goals of a 55 a possibility MN would be your best option. Some big fish in WI, but outside of GB (which is still not all that common there yet) a 55 is pretty rare in WI.
