Posts: 26 Location: Cook, Minnesota On Beautiful Lake Vermilion | On November 15th I will be relocating to Cook, MN. This is an open invite to ANYONE who would like to come and chase Musky in Northern Minnesota either the remainder of this season or anytime next year...The only requirement is that you have to take me out with you since I do not have my own boat (that fact is gonna chance in Spring '09)! I can provide "references" of other fishing partners who I have fished with. Also cabin mates who had no problem sharing a cabin with a chick! I do cook and clean...LOL When I attended the MuskyFirst outing held at Spring Bay in October '08 I fell in love with the area, the people and the Lake! My fully furnished, very private cabin is ten minutes off Vermilion, has 3 bedrooms and 1 1/2 baths. Seriously everyone is welcome and with all the wonderful people I have met/fished with thus far I hope to just keep learning and gaining knowledge on how to be a better Musky angler. Hope to see you all at the 2009 Musky shows or on the water at some point...Good luck this Fall!

Musky Chick- I just wanted to say how COOL it is to see girls fishing. I wish I could get my wife into it. Then she would understand why I love Muskie fishing with a passion. One word of advice-- The glove you are wearing in your pic is not suited for muskie. If a fish thrashed bad enough, its plates would slice right through that cloth. Also, the cloth tends to be more absorbant than a "Lindy Fish Handling Glove"., so some of the fish's protective slime is getting soaked up. A good glove is good for both the fisherwoman & the fish!

Wife: *casts* "I hate these bugs! they won't stop biting." *casts* "I don't like this spot. There are too many weeds." *casts* "Can you take this off? I don't know what it is." *casts* "It's so hot/cold! How much longer?" *casts* "My arms are tired. Can we troll?" *bangs rod into side of boat* *casts* "Can we go in to eat?" *casts* " I can't believe we woke up this early." *Castssss blacklash* "Not another one. Can you fix this?"

Posts: 26 Location: Cook, Minnesota On Beautiful Lake Vermilion | Thanks for the uplifting reply and the advice about gloves...I am kind of a rookie still learning everyday that I fish with or talk with experienced Musky people! It is kind of a sickness to be this passionate about Muskie! It takes a somewhat crazy person (sorry all) to be on the water in the fall ( it's when I went Musky hunting for the first time and never realized you ever did this sport unless it was cold, raining, sleet or snowing) cast countless times without ever missing an 8 at boatside just waiting/hoping for a glimpse of a fish..then the rush that goes through you when you get a follow and the even BIGGER adrenaline rush when a fish hits! I cannot always explain it I just know I wanna do it again...and again...and again... When out fishing with "the guys" I am usually the last one casting at the end of the day. I try to never whine/complain, keeping the whole experience fun and relaxing (that's part of the reason I do this). One night I was out night fishing with a tournament guy and another seasoned angler when they kept asking me if I wanted to go in...I refused to be the one to give in! Would of been too easy for them to say "well we had to come in 'cuz the CHICK wanted to.." Granted it was 4am and we were all on about 20 plus hours of fishing for that day! Determination is where it's at! I think sometimes most guys think the girls will not be "self-sufficent" in the boat or will want to head in when it is boring, cold or fishless...I figured if I wanted to play with the big boys I needed to learn all I could on land before even getting in a boat, so I learned how to tie a P-knot, to cast by using a weighted lure, reading Musky Hunter and countless articles so I could atleast understand what everyone was talking about. Then just listening and asking all sorts of questions even if they are stupid! Most of all learning how to successfully fix my own "professional over runs" also known as birds nests. I feel privledged to be welcomed into a sport where I am a true minority. I try to encourage other women to just give Musky fishing a try. I love to hear about women/girls catching big fish. There is not many of us out there but the ones that are I think are hard-core! Thanks again & Good luck!!

Posts: 23 Location: Oak Lawn, IL. | Good for you for following your passion for musky fishing and making the move, Musky Chick!! Takes a lot of guts to pick up and go like that. I worked for three summers up in Cook at Camp Vermilion and it is beautiful country up there. Nice people as well. Also caught my personal best(53") from the big V back in 2000. Haven't fished there since but need to get back. No Canada trip next year so maybe a Vermilion trip will finally happen again. If so I'll definitely get in touch with you. You'd be welcome in my boat anytime. Hope that living in Cook is everything you hope it will be! Good luck!!
