It's so "hot and heavy" that 23 boats landed 2 (yes two) fish in a tournament on Saturday.

I think they call it front.
FRIDAY I GOT SUN BURNED!!! with high 50deg weather and sunny....Pounded it hard...Buddy got a 38"..
Saturday I woke up to 31deg Windy as heck, and rain and snow mix.
Yeah I think that something to do with it. Correct me if im wrong.

Place is way over rated. Not Worth my drive if the Fox Chain is a week from opening. Otherwise a pretty cool mud hole.

I know a lot of VERY GOOD STICKS that have been fishing the lake hard since the ice came out 2 weeks ago and don't have nine fish between all of them.

The water was pretty murky this weekend, especially with the rain and wind...

Made my first voyage to Spring on Saturday. Came away thinking it was an alright place to fish. Barely moved a thing, but that was the weather's fault probably. Shallow and moderate clarity around two feet or so. Real weedy, making it unfishable by late Spring from my reports.

Last week was a tough time. They took 150 fish out to take eggs and spawn. Put 75 back in when we were there. The guys putting the fish back in said the largest they netted so far was 48 with quite a few in the low 40's.

Fished it saturday, had a swirl and my partner had a follow. The lake is high and murky right now. Nobody catching anything. I did see a cruiser running along and it looked beat up like it had spawned.

This lake has it's good days and plenty of bust days too. They only stock it once every three years.

As far as the fish making it, they do. The lake has springs, if it did not it would dry up as it is an isolated backwater of the ilinois river. The DNR says the water temps below the weed canopy are over 10 degrees coller than the surface temps. The lake also has a ton of shad, good crappie and alot of nice bass.

Went out to day water temp was between 46 and 50. Boated a fat 34. Saw 1 small follow may be a northern.

Let's just say fishing has been slow since they had the nets in. But today was a much, much much better day if you know what I mean. I think the sun warmed the water enough to at least turn on one fish. And boy what a fish!

Fished Spring lake 3/26..temps in the upper 50s/low 60s and very little wind. Water temp was 44 in the am and 51 in the pm when we pulled off. Fished pretty much everything I could think of twice..Theres not to many different lures you can throw with the lake being as shallow as it is..There was one bucktail that stayed on all day and we managed to pull a decent fish on it half way through the day..The bucktail had 2 chrt #8 colo. blades and a chrt. skirt like you would find on a showgirl. We were pretty much drifting aimlessly across the middle of the lake by that point in the day..
