We're heading up to the Polk County area this coming weekend. Nobody has suckers. Does anyone know of anywhere we can get big suckers (or any suckers) between Chicago and Polk County?

Triangle Sports in Antioch has some, dont know if that's in your direction though. Kolar, Anglers Resources, Salmon Shop all a bust.

Dorn's in Madison (intersection of the Beltline and Midvale) had some as of Monday.
not much left as far as big ones, but plenty of 12"ers.

Jim I found a few phone #s for you to try.
St Croix Outdoors, 715-483-9515
Apple River Sports, 715-268-9766
Gen's Bait, 715-268-6231
Lee's Lucky Lures, 715-483-5550

I couldn't find a # for Deer Lake Bait but the storage place next door should be able to get the # for you,
Deer Lake Storage, 715-483-1486.

These are all in Polk Count along the Hiway "8" corridor. One of them should still have suckers.

We've been told by Deer Lake Sports that none of the bait shops in the area have them and that the supplier is out of them. I guess there's always Smokey's as an option. Anybody know if Hayward area has them? It's not a terribly long trip.........

Smokey's had lots of suckers yesterday. Not too many real big ones. On Nov 19, Muskie Mike (in Okauchee) said that they were expecting to get in 50 big suckers that day.

If you call ahead to Gen's in Amery, they should be able to get them of any size. They always have very good quality bait. Their number is above.

Otherwise, Russell's Sport and Bike in Star Prairie might still have a few.

Did you call Gen's? I have heard similar stories from Deer Lake Sports in the past and have found that Gen's had a nice supply of them. I would call everybody on Mike's list before I drove all the way to Hayward.

Thought I read somewhere that you are not allowed to transport live bait into Wis. from another state because of that VHS disease.

My brother was up in Polk County the past few days looking for suckers and all the bait shops listed above are out. He was able to get a few at Indianhead Sports in Cumberland, but he bought the last four that they had. FYI, he was on Deer on Tuesday and had 40-41 for water temps...

You also can get big suckers at Henry's Bait shop on 31st Canal, 1312-225-8538. Musky suckers up to 12" are $4.99, 12" and up are $5.99. I got four around 18" last weekend.

That is correct, Gen's, Apple River Sports, Deer Lake Sports, Lee's Lucky Lures, and St Croix Outdoors are all out of suckers. I did leave 1 sucker at Indianhead sports shop in Cumberland, good luck.
