Location: KY | I thought I would share a few pictures of my first crankbait. I chose to through wire with two halves. The pine body was held together with dowels while I shaped it. The wire is a bicycle spoke. I added about 5/16oz of lead to get it to float right. My inspiration for this bait was the AC 00 Shiner. Mine is about 5 1/2" long. I glued it together with five minute epoxy. Painted it with spray cans and covered it with E-tex light. I rotated it by hand. (not recommended) I am afraid to guess how many hours I spent on it. The next one will be easier.

Location: Oregon | That bait is awesome, great job!!! If you don't have a dryer, try Devcon 2-ton next time, it works well and sets up a whole bunch faster which makes rotating by hand easier. It doesn't matter how much time you spent on it because it's fun.......

I expect it to run about 6’. I use two pieces of wood. I have a pattern where I drill holes & router the slots while the pieces are square. I then put them together & shape the profile. I then broke them apart and router the perimeter with dowels holding the parts to my work surface. Put the halves together & finish with sand paper. Break it apart one last time and add the hardware and glue.

| Nice work Bruce I use Devcon as Jed recommended mix it in a shallow Dixie cup blow on it to remove bubbles and coat thinly and hang do it 3 times light 220 sand between coats but you do have to move kinda fast 5 min or less |

You did an outstanding job, and I hope you catch some quality fish on such a quality lure.
I hope non-baitmakers check out this forum, and they'll understand why some lures cost $12 and why some cost $40.
My compliments, and thanks for all of the pics. Seeing the process makes me appreciate it even more. To see all of the detail and all of the steps.

One side note. I use Devcon 5 minute for quick repairs. I keep some in the boat.
I use the 2-ton for when I have more time.
I mentioned once before, there is a company here in WI that makes all sorts of wood treatments, fillers and epoxies. Abatron is the name. They have several 2-part epoxies, all with different pot life and drying times and viscosities. I used Epatron 5 for filling weight holes. It is the texture of honey and has a pot life of 30 minutes and dries in 6-8 hrs. Other ones dry faster and have a shorter pot life. Check out their product line-up, there might be some stuff to interest you.

Location: Williamstown, WV | You just made a replica of my favorite bait here in West Virginia. The 00 AC Shiner has caught more fish for me than any other bait. If you make any more let me know, I'd like to purchase one or work out a trade. You did a really good job.

My bait is about 1 1/2 times larger. I tried to keep the same proportions and shape. I expect it to have a similar feel too. I wanted it to be larger to get noticed by the big girls. LOL
