Now that many of us are done or nearly done muskie fishing for the year, what do you do during the off season to feed the addiction? I go to a ton of shows, which get some of the job done for me. Reading everything I can get my hands on helps some too. Kentucky in March for the FIRST outing, too. How about you?

shows, read whatever i can get my hands on, make baits, modify baits, play with baits, drool over all the new toys i need to buy...

Thorne Bros a couple times a week helps a little.

icefishing for big pike, eyes and perch takes care of the rest of it

I like to study maps of lakes I plan on hitting the following year, hit up the Mpls shows and plan next years trips. I'm also a musician so winter time = music making time.

My fishing season is basically September to June, can't help you, but if you want to come down and fish, we will get out the schedule, the 10 day weather forecast and clear some space on the back deck for you.

Hit the Tri Esox show in January.

Sharpen hooks.

Clean reels.

Screw around with the boat, and/or just sit in it and daydream.

Study maps.

Watch as many DVDs/videos/home movies of muskie fishing as possible.

Hmmm...lets see..

Install tunes in the boat, polish and wax the whole darn thing. Re-lube everything, Modify where things are from original install,

Then, on to reels, rods, lures, etc cleaning, painting, selling, buying etc.

Bore the heck out of my wife watching any videos I have. Heck...I'm like a kid watching barney.

Goof around on MF

Ice fish when I can.

Steve - going to be another outing to the Cave in March? Had a blast at this past years and got to learn a new body of water. Can't wait for this years outing!

As for my offseason, all the usual stuff, maintainence etc.... PLUS I've been looking for a new job (and found one)....in the Twin Cities. If I can pull the trigger... Tough having the security of a decent job here in Chi town but to have the opportunity to fish some of those waters up there every weekend? A no brainer!!!

I fish from ice-out in Indiana (late Feb to mid March) until ice-up (mid December) and I seem to be all over fishing during that time frame. I spend about 5 hours a day on this site, year round (this is why everything gets deleted so fast). We'll be at at least 4 shows this year. I set up the chat schedule, MatchFISHING, the phone interviews, and work on the Kly stuff all while being Jonesi's Manager of the Kwan.

It never ends!

And if anyone is just DYING to do more Muskie related stuff, contact me, I can surely find a lot for you to do.

(and yes, I'm whining. I get to)

Read everything I can get, watching videos over and over, study lake maps, and spending endless hours on internet muskie sites.

Relocate to Florida and fish those saltwater beauties. It keeps the old mind and body in tune for muskie opener. I can usually find saltwater lures that make good muskie baits in the shops down there. Most of my productive soft plastics are really saltwater baits. I don't even have to respool my line. The PowerPro works great. Of course, I use mostly open face spinning gear rather than baitcasting. But sometimes the baitcasters work great for bigger fish. Only 30 days till warm weather and snooks.

Suck up for next season! Get the honey do list complete that hasn't been done since may, back to finishing the basement(musky room), musky shows, take the wife to Mexico and get a little fishing in. Time for bait reorganization, sharpening hooks, tinkering with baits, getting inventory and making list of lure to add to the arsenal. Start researching new lakes to fish this season. Musky INc meeting. Cave is only 4 months away and the boat is outside waiting to come in for the winter after today storm and future forecast.

I try to get my mind off it as much as possible by ice fishing, sturgeon spearing, and household chores, then by about march I kick it into high gear preparing for upcoming season. once I start, I can't get my mind off of it, this is the worst addiction I have ever had, no way to calm it, just subdue the bad times and hope for quick ice out.
Its going to be a long winter boys\girls. lets help feed eachothers addiction.

I'm with Obfuscate Musky on this one. I'll service the fishing gear and boat but winter is when I crank up the Vegas Video and work on my chops. My son's becoming quite a player too so we'll have a lot of fun this winter between playing at church and recording.
Also, Fishcrazed and I will spend our fair share of time going over this year and planning for the next. Go to a few shows and buy a few things.
