Posts: 110 Location: Albertville, Minnesota | I'm speechless. I read all of the posts from that link. Heck yeah, I ever see a net, its done. That seriously ticks me off no matter where or what gamefish is being harvested. The crazy thing was the post about the gov solving the problem by lowering the limit to two walleyes for anglers. Holy dumb. Chris

Posts: 1996 Location: Pelican Lake/Three Lakes Chain | Not exactly the way I wanted to start the weekend. Unfortunately up there and here in Wisconsing the just ignore it and it will go away technique is not accomplishing anything. I wish there were something we could do.

Posts: 267 Location: Right behind you (tap, tap) BOOO | That just makes me sick to my stomach... It's sad that the fish go to waste. Why is it that the politicians and media turn their backs to it? I just don't understand. Esox23

| I do think that you as our American friends can help, the areas affected by this depend heavily on tourism. By showing your concern and support to the resorts you travel to can make a world of difference in mobilizing some of them to add to the mounting voice of concern. The lake is still an awesome fishery and we all want to keep it that way. Unfortunately this issue time and time again gets quietly ignored. Sometimes the squeakiest wheel gets the grease and it's time we spoke louder than they do!!! | |||

Posts: 3926 | I have a solution. Boycott ALL Canadian fishing trips for the entire year of 2005. Make sure the all the northern neighbors: resort owners, guides, resteraunts, bait shops, tourism boards, local and provincial governments, etc, are aware of why we Americans are not going to spend hundreds and hundreds of thousands of our dollars in Canada during 2005. See if that doesn't focus some attention on the problem pretty #*^@ quick. Plenty of fine fishing opportunties in WI, MI, MI and other states. Not that we don't have similar problems, I've seen the piles of dead fish left by Indians at Cass Lake. But our probs are nothing close to the degree shown in those sickening pictures. Besides, our own economy could use the boost. Stay home in 2005. Money talks loudest with most politicians/lawmakers. Common sense isn't even a remotly close second to withholding big bucks.

| Positively work with the MNR and resort owners, or negatively work on your own and take these nets down. I have done it before and will do in again in Mexico, Canada, and the US. Steve | |||

| I happen to run the looneybeaver/ww board. Following my stats to see where visitors come from and found this board and saw this post Have to disagree with the following though I also work as a rep in the outdoor business and can tell all you do is hurt the people involved in the business even more by doing so and will not solve the netting problems this way. I only wish a solution was so simple. Thanks for the visits to my board Running an outdoors site I will make certain I put a link up to it once I get back in town was posted "I have a solution. Posts: 73 Location: Hazard KY | A truely Sad Site. No lake can stand that kind of abuse. Nets should have name tags and the owners fined greatly. Hear in KY trot lines and limb lines are the worse thing that I have seen but this stuff is realy sad to all fisherman. Chris Haley | ||

Posts: 2 | Does anybody have an email address or mail address that we could voice our opnion to? I don't have any idea of who to contact in that area in term of politics. But this could be a way for people from outside of the area to make their voices heard. Mike
