Message Subject: Wall Rack Bait Storage?

Posts: 351 Location: Vilas County, WI | I have read on this forum a few guys that store the baits on wall racks, then when they head out fishing they grab a few baits for the lake/conditions they will be fishing. Thus eliminating the need to bring the entire Lakewood box with etc. I currently practice this method storing baits in Plano boxes, then grabbing a few for each outing and placing them in a smaller box. I am considering the wall method though, having easy access to every bait hanging in plain view. I will be soon insulating and finishing a heated shop. So those who utilize wall racks, do I need to be overly conscious of outside contaminants? I.e. dust, odors etc. It would be much easier for me to do this in the shop vs the basement where the environment would be a little more controlled. I'm still in the planing stages. Any opinions for or against would be appreciated. Thanks

Location: Athens, Ohio | I took 2x2's and screwed them to the walls, then used drywall screws as hangers. The bucktails I hung on pieces of plywood that I'd glued old bunk carpet to.m

Posts: 613 Location: Michigan | I just have pegboard in my garage and use pegboard hooks paired with wood dowels to hand baits. Super easy, looks nice, and is easily adjustable for different size baits. Attachments ---------------- 26993457_10100678949761184_8279350568760700827_n.jpg (119KB - 527 downloads)

Now that Justencase is on the case i'll store baits in those boxes when those are built. I liked having baits that I could simply pull from the wall and store them in the boat for a day trip, Then just hang them back up when I returned to help with clutter. Posts: 416 Location: Madtown, WI | I do pegboard but the bought a bunch of "straight" pegboard hooks (check ebay) so I can stack 4 baits per hook. Saves a lot more space than the dowel method, looks like your traditional bait shop.

I have some I use for putting duct/painters tape on in my shop that must be at least 8" long.
