Posts: 5874 | Fished Saturday , 10/4/03, with KLY and JoMusky. Jo had a nice fish on after trolling for about 15 minutes, and we lost it at the net. Looked to be a fat mid 40. KLY missed a rip, and then I had to show the boys how it was done. I got a nice 38 1/2. Jo folowed with a 25"er, to this day, the smallest ski in my boat. About an hour later, I noticed a hard bend in one of the rods. I told KLY to check it, as it was his turn. He pulled the rod from the holder, and said he thought there was a fish on. I didn't hear the clicker, and he said that it was off(Jo set that rod). There was 284 feet of line out! KLY said he felt the fish, and it was big. I could see the rod tip pumping with what appeared to be a fish fighting. As KLY reeled and reeled, he kept saying it was a good one. As he got more and more line in, I noticed the rod tip making the same action. It looked to consistant, but I didn't say anything. Suddenly, KLY yelled, "There it is! On the surface, and it's huge!" I looked out over the water, and saw something large on the surface. I immediately told KLY he had one big............ 2 gallon Ice Cream pail! Here are the pics of the bait used, and the trophy pose, of old Bucket Mouth. Thanks for joining us, KLY. It was a hoot all day! You are on a roll this year! Posts: 32957 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | ToddM, He obviously kept it. That is a shame. Removing a bucket like that one from the gene pool will possibly cause a decline in the size and quality of ALL Ice Cream pails in the future. We may be limited to a put and take 1 pint cup if more follow that trend. I say we protect the bucket population from anglers like this guy for good by placing at LEAST a 50 gallon pail limit. That should do it.
KIDDING HERE----- JUST KIDDING!! ;0:)

Posts: 391 | Hey, sorry I have been busy grass carp fishing lately in the crystal clear rivers of Iowa. No agricultural run off here, and lots of extra bonus fish as well,i.e. buckets, socks, underware, radiators, HATS, etc. waiting to see if I got some good pics of another monster taken the same day, just as Shep mentioned. I would have to say it was only a 1 gallon bucket, not quite the trophy I would have liked to have reeled in. KLY yelled, "There it is! On the surface, and it's huge!" Not so sure about this one, as memory serves me correctly Shep noticed the beast first wallowing around. After noticing it I realized the true trophy that I had. Later Kly p.s I submitted an article to bucket angler on live baiting buckets, which should be in next months issue!

This weekend is booked, but maybe next, I'll e-mail you when I find out my schedule. Edited by Lone Stone 10/16/2003 7:05 PM
