It was great, earlier in the month.

But on Vermilion there might be two other boats parked on the reef trying to catch the same fish. Don't get me wrong, you are correct in your statement, but the pressure can ruin a trip simply because it's so frustrating dealing with combat fishing.
I was on V for the first two weeks in July and even small secondary stuff was receiving plenty of attention from other musky guys. These are little spots that I rarely see other boats fish; after consistently seeing guys fish them I figured the pressure on the mainlake stuff must have been so bad that guys were just trying to find stuff to fish off the beaten path. Reports from friends have indicated the pressure continues to get worse. |

| Question about Vermillion I have always wondered in reading the posts on M 1st: I have never been to Vermillion, but really want to go there. Is the pressure really that bad - when i look at the lake map it seems like there are just tons of spots and areas to fish where it seems it would really spread everyone out nicely. It seems like with that many spots the lake could handle alot of casters - is that just not the case? It seems like there would have to be hundreds of casters out there to make it that bad? Or is it basically like fishing a metro lake? Thanks |

| Plenty of spots...... I think it was posted here once -all you have to do is find some good looking shoreline and start fishing, go with that - good luck!  |

Location: Hayward WI | I was there last week. Some spots, ie community spots, hot spots maps had a boat on it, but I saw more walleye guys on the rock bars than muskie guys. Other times you either find a different spot or wait your turn. You're right though, plenty of spots to fish, I found a new to me very small weed patch that held a couple fish near 50", just couldn't get them to eat.
Don't let the talk of crowds keep you from going, but also don't expect fish flying into the boat, except this week  |

Location: Contrarian Island | 2 buds were just there for 4.5 days...both good fishermen, one knows the lake very well...2 fish....one 40 and one 47+...
yah, not exactly jumpin in the boat Erico! ; ) fish to be had but V will never be what it use to be....pressure changes a lake. The fish are there so hit a window when they wanna eat and you could be rewarded with a giant....but can also leave feeling like you got your butt handed to you on a silver platter....more so the latter.

It can be a lake of high expctations with low realizations of fish caught, but it's the big fish I've seen that keep me trying, muskie nervanah no, but if you go in with the knowledge you may get zero fish and can deal with it, have at it.
