| Hi- I use a Sony Digital Mavica MVC-FD85, 1.3 Mega Pixels CCD -> 1280 x 960 image size. Easy to use & file size can be reduced via MS Photo Editor to upload to MF. Best part is it records photo's on 3.5 floppy's. Very easy to transfer to your PC & share w/friends. No special cables or transfer software. I also can take a 60 second video w/ audio. But in video mode or even digital photo mode it's not real good for fast action. But quality of noraml photo's etc. are execllent. Cost= a little pricey @ ~ $500-> 700 depending on where you're buying! Consider the cost of developing & printing a 35 mm film, digital is the way to go.

PS - This one was taken in India in Dec-2000. Note the women cooking in the foreground- That's her kitchen and her home her is right behind her. You can see the small fire under the pot she's cooking in!!! I look at this photo' at least once a week and remind myself how lucky I am!!! |

| I use the Nikon Coolpix 5000 as it produces beautiful pictures and uses the flash card to store pics. They cost right around $1000.

| Oh almost forgot the blueish haze in the home.jpg is smog from the cooking fires and desiel bus's, +2 cycle engines in the predominant transportation vehicles- mopeds & little two seater taxis.

I use the Sony MVC-CD300. It has the best storage system (a small CD/RW) and excellent image quality. It can store from 100 - 1200+ images on each CD depending on resolution. The Sony CD's can be popped into your computer, printed, transferred or saved and they cost about $1.00 each. The camera runs from $500 - $700 depending on where you buy it. If you want to print pictures up to 8 X 10" and more, you will need a camera of at least 3 megapixels. If you are only going to shoot your catch and email pictures, 1 megapixel is enough ($300+/-). I attached a picture at the LOWEST image resolution and it still looks pretty good. Luck to you! |

| My everyday camera is the Nikon Coolpix 995. You can find them for around $350. I am partial to the Nikons for both digital and film. Here is one taken this summer reduced in size and slightly compressed for the web. Original size was 2048x1360. My favorite Digital Camera review site is dpreview.com , go there and read Phil Askey's reviews before you buy

| Main thing about digital camera's that your main concern should be the megapixels to how you would like to print out your pictures. Unfortunately the true quality can't be shown on a computer monitor because it's highest quality can only reach 72dpi. I would definately say Sony, Olympus and Nikon are great cameras. Here's a little guideline for you on megapixels and what the best quality print you can get from them is.
1.3megapixels - 3X5 pictures
2.1megapixels - 5X7 pictures
3+ megapixels - 8X10 or bigger.
As any other time I have replied to these posts, I STRONGLY recommend that you consider a model that has a true view eyepiece. What this means is that what you view in the eyepiece is the same as what is being taken and on the LCD. This comes in handy on sunny days when the LCD can't be viewed easily. With models without this feature looking through the regular eyepiece can be a gamble. Just my .02

| Thanks alot guys for enlightening me a bit. Looks like there are quite a few to choose from depending on my needs. Hopefully I can con the wife into getting me one for Christmas or something so I can put up some of the pictures of the fish my netboy Alan nets for me(LOL).[:praise:] |
