Captain America! Given a choice, how can you not fish with Captain America?

I am in Ft. Lauderdale for work til sun (better not be frozen when i get back) missin the muskies so I HAD to take a day to fish or I'd go crazy. We went on a shared charter 11-13 for $125 ea. w/ the guys at fishlocalknowledge. I tried to work out a deal to get them to come up for MN muskies but apparently they don't like any possibility of cold haha. Had a great time, sounds like they are on fish pretty consistently and are pretty cool. We fished for sails half the time but nothin was goin so we trolled the rest and got a few fish. I caught a dec. 'cuda and we got spanish mackeral and kingfish. I think i made a solid choice, and would prob fish with them again if i could.

Hey Slammer
Cuda's are essentially reef oriented and you can catch them all winter in south florida. IMO, your odds of catching a marlin there in a day or two of fishing are about the same as you would have trolling a topwater lure behind a snowmobile on Pewaukee lake in January.
If you're not locked in to south florida, I'd suggest checking out Venice, Louisiana.
Good shots at marlin, tuna, plus cuda, groupers, snappers, kingfish, redfish etc.
There's not much to do there other than fish, but ....

I think it's Triple D charters , out of north Miami ... fished with him a few times , he got me my first Tarpon . Check out Delphfishing.com , they're out of key west but they are top notch , fished with them numerous times and never disapointed !!

rumble's right. Rob Delph and his dad are the best, also R T Trosset out of key west if you can make it down there. Its light tackle not trolling big lures around. sailfish and kings are whats down there now. Sailfish are almost a sure thing and on 20lb spinning tackle they will make you forget about muskys for awhile.

Don't know how far south you're going, but the Keys have some of the best fishing in Florida. Its close to the gulf stream and there are a lot of reefs within a few miles of the islands. Lots of fish near the bridges between the keys too. Here is a link:

Hey Slamr, I have a great contact, Mike Kropp, who works out of Marco Island, Florida (South of Naples). Is that within driving distance of where you want to be?
He is excellent with the intercoastal fishing as well as out on the Gulf.

Heading down to FL come this mid February too… Naples to be specific. Any of you guys have any recommendations for any guides/charters out of this area?

Would’ve like to initially have gone for tarpon but from what I’m reading mid Feb. is not the best time to target them. Right now I would be game for any species. Never tired the big water fishing scene yet so anything would be new and exciting.

Any contact info would be greatly appreciated for this area. Thanks
