How is everyone doing fishing in Vilas County Wi? I am on a week of vacation and haven't been doing well at all. We are on day 4 and have only moved a couple of fish on jerk baits but haven't boated any! Any one have any suggestions? How is everyone else doing?

Posts: 1057 Location: Medford, WI | It was slow going this past weekend...thought it would be great but turned out slow. Got two 40 inchers on soft plastics in about 18-23 feet of water for the weekend and one sucker that was dropped within 5 seconds. No other action on suckers at all. Thinking this weekend should be a good one for the sucker bite! Good luck the rest of the weekend. Jake Bucki

Posts: 1036 | I know that Mark Rottier is on a good bite up there. He said that a 50 hit the net last week and he has been getting multiple fish on most days. Lots of 42s to 45's. Give him a call and see if you can pick his brain. Mark Rottier, 906 367 2099. I'll be up the first weekend in November and I'm hoping he can get me on a 50!

Posts: 400 Location: North/Central WI | I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for that Vilas Co 50"... I don't know what kinds of water you are fishing but you may want to try some smaller lakes. Smaller, less pressured waters can be a real trip saver if the big lakes are tough. Edited by NateOz 10/26/2011 10:24 AM

Deep...shallow....big lakes...small lakes.... saw 2 fish and 1 of em' was by pure luck.....turned around to check the sucker and the pig came out of the weed bed, saw the boat and bolted. I agree with MF....better times still to come !!!

We did not boat a fish, however the knowledge, experiences and how two’s Mr. Rottier divulged will definitely be put to use! Highly recommend him if fishing Vilas County. Thank you again Mr. Rottier for a great learning experience.

Posts: 130 Location: Menomonee Falls, WI | We had a TOUGH weekend up in Vilas last weekend. Winds were brutal and made it tough to fish suckers in the locations we wanted to, but my partner did manage to get a nice 41" er on a sucker. We had one other boat up with us and they also managed to scrap out one 40"er on a sucker as well. Water temps ranged from 46 to 42 degrees on the lakes we fished.

I was up from Nov. 10-15 for a little R&R. Thats rowing and raking. Can't use the family place with out a little work. Rowed about 4 hrs. each day on the Man. Chain and caught two fish on Sat. A rather skinny 38" and an hour later caught a hefty 39-1/2" Both were caught on a Hooker, approx. 25' down over 35'-40' FOW
