| I used the search funtion for a while and I see lots of recommendations for big blades, but what about big rubber (mags and pounder size)? I would think a higher speed retreive would be better for picking up slack. Any suggestions? |

| Careful for the Lunas. When used for rubber/jerk baits, the anti-reverse WILL go out. It works well for bucktails/topwaters (anything straight retrieve). I know of several fisherman that have lost fish on these reels because of the anti-reverse.

| Stay away from Lunas and especially a high speed Revo....it will not last if you're throwing big rubber with it. I am a lefty as well, so I know you are in a tough spot. The best option is a 401 TE, I'd say the next best would be a 7001i Abu. I would advise you to not skimp on this, spend the money and get the 401 TE. |

Location: Iowa | I have two lunas. One for four years and the other I bought last year and haven't had any problems, yet. If I have unlimited funds I would probably buy a calcutta te but I don't have that kind of cash.

| had two lefty lunas for 5 years and they were still great reels when i sold them recently, not one single problem! went with lefty low profile reels for palming comfort...curado 301's (6.2:1) and revo toro 51 (5.4:1). i do like the 6.2:1 better for the quicker line pick-up under certain circumastances, but joessportinggoods.com has the revo toro lefty 61 5.4:1, which is a more versatile ratio imo, for ONLY $149.99 ! ... |

Location: Chicago | First thumb the spool when doing some serious ripping helps alleviate some stress. With a 9' rod serious ripping of rubber with my te400 just does'nt cut it. I want line pickup so rather than get another trin. I went with a saltist could'tn be happier no more cranking my arm off so I'm not hung up and gets the slack out quick hence a better hookset. Throw a lot of really big stuff shallow and I need to get it moving quick |

Location: Ft. Wayne Indiana | I use my Calcutta 400 TE's and my Calcutta 400 LJV's for big rubber. Luna's will last anywhere from 1 hour to 3 days when throwing and rippin' big rubber baits, I wouldn't suggest Luna's. I also use my Trinidad at times when I really need to get stuff moving, like throwing pounders and other large rubber baits up into 3 ft of water. |
