Hey guys,
For those who know, what are the major differences between the two reels? I know that the 20 is lighter and has the same line intake. But is there anything that I would be missing with the 20 that I could be getting from the 30? Any info on these two reels would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks much
Cody

Basically the same except the 30 is wider and holds more line. They both are the same diameter if u palm the reel. The 40 is a tank compared to the 20 or 30.

Yep, the spool is just wider on the 30 and it has a tiny bit more power than the 20. Go with the 30!!

The 20 and 30 have the exact same gear case/ratio.I have used both and the 20 is much better to handle and besides you dont need all that extra line, unless you plan on casting 200 yards or running baits that far back during trolling applications. You will also have less backlashes with the 20.The wider Saltist (30,40) seem to have some issues with that since they added a levelwind.

I had a 40 non LW and now have a 30 LW. Still have some backlash issues especially if there is wind. Is the 20 virtually lash free or does it have its issues as well.
Thanks,

Robin, where does the "tiny bit more power" come from on the 30 over the 20? I thought they had the same gear ratio and in fact same size gear?

20 and 30 are the same, only a wider spool no extra "power".

I have the 20 LW and love it. Easy to palm, if that's your preference. I saw no advantage of the 30 over the 20. I don't need the additional line the 30 holds so went with the 20.

A wider spool will have more line on it after a cast, a larger overall diameter. This will increase the retrieve rate, slightly. I think that is what he meant.

Thanks guys for the backround info I really appreciate it. I think I am leaning towards the 20 but I will have to see when I go to rollies.
