Posts: 646 Location: In a shack in the woods | I just bought a '95 ranger and can not find a coupler lock that fits it. I have bought 3 different locks and none of them fit. It is the slide style coupler like this http://www.race-mart.com/items/products/valley/VAL51060-detail.htm what are you guys locking these trailers with?

Posts: 4266 | When I had a Ranger I had a lock that had a knob on one end similar to half a roll of nickles, then a thin rod about 3 inches long that went through the hole and another knob on the other end that was keyed. Not a great description, but it's about all I can come up with.

Location: Contrarian Island | growing up my dad never locked the house...his theory was if they want to get in the lock isn't going to stop them....I feel the same way about my boat/trailer...if they want it.they are going to get it... just insure everything, have riders and pics etc to back it up and don't worry about it...the chances of it happening are slim... and if it does...thats why you have good insurance

Posts: 392 Location: KY | Bob I could not view your link here at work. If you are talking about the clamp that holds the trailer to the ball, I consider a lock a must have. Not for theft but for safety. You dont want the trailer coming unhooked! I have used a 1/4-20 bolt in a pinch. Currently I have an extra long pad lock with a small diameter hook. I have also seen the ones that Beaver decribed at BPS, Cabelas, etc. Your going to like your ranger!

Not for theft but for safety. You dont want the trailer coming unhooked That's what happened to me going across the four wheeler tracks at the end of the driveway. Boat went up into the air then slammed down on the ground. Only bent the toungue Jack. I got lucky I didn't break more. I went to fleet farm and bought a long masterlock but that was the too big of diameter shaft, a normal bolt lock is too short. I ordered a lock from frankie's but the one I got was for a new boat not my style coupler. I have to call them in the morning. Your going to like your ranger! Posts: 537 Location: Gilberts IL/Rhinelander WI | 18v dewalt cordless grinder will cut off any lock in seconds. I still always lock mine up, but it wouldn't take much effort to get it off.
