Posts: 7038 Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | Interested to hear everyone's thoughts around when they use Hair vs. Maraboo vs. Tinsel vs. Rubber on their "in-line spinners", since I'm guessing we can't really call them all "bucktails" anymore. Thinking around double 10s, 8s, and the new rare species - the single bladed inline spinner. When do you use what?

Posts: 139 | Since I don't have every color combo in each skirt type, I will typically use the colors I think will work first and not seem to worry much about what material it is made of. Saying that, I have had the most luck this year using tinsel (all 5 fish caught on bucktails this season came from tinsel), so I find myself pulling those out first now.

Posts: 21 | I used to be strictly hair. Never cared for Marabou. The last two years, I am really impressed w/ silicone (DC-10's and Sili Girl's). The tinsel is lively too. The difference in action between hair and the others in unbelievable. Granted, it is mostly about the profile, vibration, and blade color. Along with right spot at right time.

Posts: 79 Location: South Dakota | I am not sure what is on the cowgirls. I thought it was called flashabou. I like the action of it but, it sure seems to have more wind resistance during the cast. I like the action of Maraboo and it seems to have less wind resistance on the cast but seems to be limited on color schemes and flash. Hair has good casting ability but, does not have the bulk or action of the maraboo or flashabou. IMO the flash and vibration of the blades brings them up but, if they do not have a reaction strike, then having more action and bulk in the bait dressing helps to get them to eat. So....to summarize the above ramblings.....I prefer the synthethic (flashabou) for colors and action. I believe it helps in getting the followers to bite but, I wish it would cast like hair or maraboo.

Posts: 115 Location: Birch Run | Flashabou is my fav for a couple of reasons, you can steady reel a double cowgirl and it pulses and puffs out to give a bigger appearance. Tinsel sucks imo, tangles in your hooks, marabou and hair like previously mentioned do cast better into wind than flashabou.

Posts: 139 | In my earlier post, I guess I meant to say "Flashabou" and not "tinsel"......my fault.

Location: MN | I fish all types. Lately, I have liked the DC-10/13's w/ rubber skirting becuase these baits are heavier. The rubber and general components of the bait makes them heavier that comparable models. This heavier blade has allowed me to fish deeper and faster as compared to other lighter blades.
