Location: champaign, illinois | I have a '01 DF70 tiller on a '01 1750 Fishhawk which I bought used. First owner had it two years before me.
What do you like most?
Reliability, noise level, power, being able to transfer the extended 6 year warranty to second owner for something like 20 bucks.
What do you like least?
The tiller handle could be a bit more user friendly like the Yammi's
Fuel Economy?
Even on a one week trip where the boats moored over night I never fill the gas tank. I can do a two day tourney on 8 gal's of gas.
Reliability?
Absolutely!
Would you buy one again?
In a heartbeat.

| I've been using a 2004 60hp Johnson 4-stroke for work which is actually a Suzuki & here's where I stand.
Most? SUPER quiet
Least? Nothing off the top of my head
Economy? Great, can run on 6 gal all day (10hrs) without running on empty & this is around 4-5mph, the more top end speed we get, the less the economy, but it's still great.
Reliability? For the hell that motor has been through during work, the only thing to go wrong is to have a throttle cable snap (easy fix) and a bent up prop.
Would I buy one? Yes, without a doubt. |

Location: McFarland | I've got a 2003 115hp and love it. Once in a great while when I start it, it puffs a little smoke and you can smell oil but it has never given me a seconds worth of trouble. I think someone told me that I need to change the plugs when you get that. Awesome on gas I've got a 17 gallon tank and it will last for what seems like forever. You can be running across the lake at full throttle and talk to anyone in the boat no problem without having to talk over the motor. Would certainly buy another!! |

| I have an '05 90hp fourstroke.
Smooth, powerful, refined, sips gas, and flawless in the three years I've had it.
I have mine on a Fishhawk as well and the driving reason for buying this package was because of the motor. I have not been disappointed and highly recommend the brand.
Other great motor makers are out there, but you can't beat a Suzi in my book. (A recent post also was made by someone who works at a boat dealer and he commented that his mechanics see fewer Suzis than anything else.) |

| I have owned two 175's and one 225.
Love Suzuki 4 strokes. Amazing motors. Super super quiet, plenty fast, they really do sip the gas.
No con's what so ever. Simply awesome motors.

| 2004 90HP Suzuki on a 1750 Fishhawk
Reliability has been superb, this is a well built piece of machinery. Snaps out of the hole and is very athletic. It starts immediately regardless of the weather or outside temperature. I run my boat from ice out to ice up in all weather. Fuel economy is super. operation is very smooth and quiet.
Only gripe is that there is a small amount of backlash in the throttle making it difficult to maintain adjust speeds between 1.5 and 2.5 mph. Motor will not turn down to allow trolling speeds below 1.5 mph in forward. Don't get me wrong, the motor operates very smoothly at low speeds and can be run all day long that way, just a bit tricky to adjust speed. Not a big enough issue to consider adding a kicker to my rig, the big 90 does an adequate job.
I would definately buy another based on my experience.

| I have a 2006 200HP on a Tuffy 1890. So far I like everything about it.
It's hard to pick what I like the most.
It sip's fuel. Last summer at LOTW we fought very rough water for 2 days and fished 7 total days, and I only burned 60 gal. of gas.
It will troll for days without missing a beat and is so quiet I can't tell it is running.
It has enough power to get up on plane very quik, and will run 55 mph.
The only down side is not enough dealers around.

| My 07, 175 hp runs like a dream...has about 130 hours on it and hasn't skipped a beat...very quiet, always starts, powerful, and great on gas...I don't have a single dislike...

Location: Fairfield, IA | I have a 2008 DF70. Pushes the boat along very nicely - enough speed for me. It is quiet and does not use much gas. I spent some time doing the same thing you are doing [looking to find out problems, etc.] before buying and could not find much in terms of problems.
I believe they redesigned some of the motors for 2009. I know the DF70, DF80, and DF90 are new. From what I have read, the redesign is a true redesign and not simply a newer featured motor. Not certain what size motor you are looking for.
As someone said previously, there needs to be more dealers - far and away Mercury leads in that area. I live 90 minutes from my dealer so I will likely do most of the maintenance myself. Browns Point Marine is on the east coast [www.brownspoint.com] and advertisers themselves as the complete online Suzuki parts dealers.
With any brand of motor, they are built well enough that they are all good. You definitely cannot go wrong with a Suzuki.

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Higher than the DFI two strokes and quite a bit (as in alot)higher in the big bore series, a small percentage more expensive when comparing the smaller horsepower 4 strokes. I don't have Verado pricing in front of me, so I'll defer on that until I can get that info for comparison. |

Location: Eau Claire, WI | Within the last 7 days I've been quoted $12,495 for a 175hp Suzi 4-stroke plus rigging. That included an alum. prop, stainless was $325 upgrade. Bringing the total to $13,500 after tax. Was told this would be within $150 either side of quote due to estimate on rigging time.
Another place 200 miles from the above mentioned quoted me almost $15k for the same motor. This dealer quoted me $13k and change for a 175 Opti.
Need to do your homework before purchasing, one doesn't need to pay the most or the least, but there should be a competitive level where you find the balance of value in what you are getting. |
