Posts: 516 | Hey Guys, Silver foil seems to be fairly easy to find. I was wondering if anyone knows where someone can find different colored foils (i.e. gold, copper, reds, blues, etc.)? Thanks

| Painting silver foil with candy (transperant) colors gives you the other foils colors. Gold is yellow. Regards, LaPala | |||

Posts: 516 | And painting over the foil won't affect the flash quality of the foil?

| LOL Jed, you exposed me. Just happen to drop by from link passed to me. Some cool stuff here too, I'll try and drop in more frequently. Only a very thin coat of candy color is needed to colorize foil. Try wiping ur store bought colored foil with thinner, the color comes off so why not DIY As for how shiny the foil remains that will have to depend on how shiny was ur foil to start with; candy color transparency & how thin an even layer you can apply. | |||

True candy colors are dyes and have no adhesion of their own other than just staining the surface. Also the more layers of candy you lay down the darker they get. Hope this helps!

Posts: 50 | If you follow Snax advice & dips in prop you can get amazing results like shadings & depths in your paintjob. Like paint base ,dip in transparent clear base (waterbased) heatset, dip in prop few times shoot 1 layer of candy 1 dip in transparent cc another few dips in propsolution .Then you´ll get some weird paintjobs looking like no other job

| Doug, From my experiences with foil I found it tow work better clearing over the foil then painting, then clearing again. And as everyone else said candy coat over foil works pretty excellently. | |||

A clear adhesion promoter may help if you want to be 100% sure that your paints will stick. Oh, by the way, congrats on your swimbaits Nate! You've done an amazing job of designing and getting them out there. I remember checking out the Japanese swimbaits back when they first came out and thinking #*^@ those are cool, I've got to learn how to make those! Thanks to you telling me about how strong the joints are when using the two screw eyes and a pin I now make my own that way. Edited by Musky Snax 12/20/2007 9:19 AM

Posts: 389 Location: Corning, Iowa | Off the subject a little. Remember back when everyone wanted easy on clear coat, that didn't weigh anything? Someone came up with spray can envirotex. I have some, and was wondering, if this will work for an in between coat? Like different coats of paint, stencils, on foil. Or what ever. I've used it some, on small baits that the grandkids made. I know it's not as good as the rest, but maybe? Thanks Doug
