Posts: 3508 Location: Elk River, Minnesota | Hi Everyone. Been thinking about getting a different jerkbait rod..something a little bit stiffer than what I have currently.

Posts: 2427 Location: Ft. Wayne Indiana | all I use is either a 8'6 or a 9 footer from Professional Edge The shorter stiffer rods are not the way to go. Use the longer rods and you'll keep more fish pinned. Edited by MikeHulbert 9/6/2007 8:34 PM

Posts: 1270 | I don't think you are going to get many votes with a 6'6" max rod length as very few rods under 7' are sold in the musky market nowadays. In my experiance 7' is most popular followed by 8, then 7'6". PErsonally I use an 8' Fenwick TechnaAV for just about all my musky fishing regardless of what lure I am throwing.

Posts: 127 Location: Brookfield | I cant say I like any of the above choices for jerk baits. I use a 6'6 for gliders and 7'6 and 8 for everything else. Always my 8ft for jerk baits, longer casts, way less fatigue, and hook sets that get hooked. But thats just me and my $.02. Nut

| i like 7.0 because i can jerk them the way i want, whit a minimum effort.but i use them strictly for jerkbaits ,wtd, gliders.my 8 do the rest of the job.btw i feel very inconfortable whit my 8' for jerking!im not a big fan of that new tendencies of giant oversized rod for general purpose. Posts: 2024 | Bulldawgs, Suicks, heavy gliders, etc. = 7'6" H Fig Rig Tooth Tamer. I think the tooth pick length rods are a thing of the past. Take advantage of the longer rods with the same power as the pool cue sticks. | ||

Posts: 401 | I put cork on a 7 foot Diamondback jerkbait rod last year thinking somebody would order it. I still have it sitting there waiting to be built on. If anybody is interested I am willing to work out a deal. Keith

Posts: 3518 Location: north central wisconsin | 7'6" MH or H fig for most jerk applications, 7'er for some touchy straight down popping styles.
