Are there any thoughts to what produces better .... Perch or Walleye patterns?

I have read stories of Monster fish coming up and grabbing walleyes off hanging stringers from boat sides. I guess they would do the same with perch also. LOL

Seriously do you think one pattern produces bigger fish more than the other?

Thanks
John

To me it depends on the actual pattern. I like a walleye pattern in northern somewhat clear lakes, a white belly perch too. Stained lakes, it depends on the contrast of brown to white, white or ornage belly perch and if there is alot of chartruse on the perch. Both colors work, just some thoughts.

depends on forage base. here on st clair its the perch white belly or perch yellow. the white perch a totally different color has been hot also.

Perch. I like contrast. I go for the bars. Easier to see.

I generally prefer perch patterns.
But it really doesn't matter that much, the heat (or altitude, or something) out here cooks the paint off most of my lures anyway. Paint or no paint, they still catch fish.

The one that I use more produces more. Move a fish in your first ten casts on a perch pattern and you'll tend to keep it on your line...keep throwing that, if you move more fish suddenly you have a "hot" pattern. Roles can be reversed. It's personal preference, throw whatever one you have more confidence in. Not what I have more confidence in...if you'd do that you'd be throwing some weird stuff.

i have seen and caught fish on both.
but i like black firetige (perch patern) bright enough to see in stained waters but still brings about enough curousity in clear waters to elicit strikes....
but i agree....you see a few fish on any color, it becomes your favorite patern!!

they both work.

One day walleye patterns will work, the next perch patters.

You can't simply get one pattern and say, "this is what I am throwing"

Get several baits in both patterns.

LOL Grunt! I was farting around with a perch Grunt last weekend just to see how it ran and what speeds I could get her up to. Well, at about 4.5mph and about 15 feet behind the baot in the prop wash I got a 35 inch muskie. The muskie just T-Boned it hard. Was actually kind of a funny site, a 16 inch bait T-boned in a 35 inch muskie's mouth. I actually would not have thought this size of a muskie would have gone after that big of a bait. Cool bait and I am glad I got the "right" color! LOL

Love that color combo! Great for Salmon, pike muskie etc. I am in Iceland right now and the smaller perch is actually doing great! not that these fish see that but great combo color so far.
