Posts: 20212 Location: oswego, il | Got back from a week up on vermillion. The area I was on was greener than baby poo. Muskies were hard to come by and smallies were hitting musky baits on the reefs. Found a shallow offshoot of the lake that was unbloomed and caught alot of pike abd bass there. My grandfather did well catching his personal best largemouth, smallmouth and pike. The pike was especailly nice, forgot the net, had to handland it and he caught it on a home-made topwater bait. My middle son also caught his personal best smallie on a musky sized topwater. I think all the bass came on musky sized topwaters for that matter. I posted a pic of my youngest son with a perch. That was one of 80(I told him he had to stop fishing for them at 80) he caught in about 90 minutes. Then promptly caught two pike on a topwater bait. Posts: 16632 Location: The desert | My weekend consisted of being unable to scuba dive....twice...once due to weather the other due to being unable to clear my ears....then my truck broke down for about the 5th time this summer, and I've only drove it for a total of about 2 weeks. Worked at picking some rocks in the yard also.......Is it time to go back to school yet?? Mike

Posts: 136 | Was on LOTW Whitefish Bay for 8 days. High skys and gin clear water do not work well together. Say a lot of nice fish and one very big fish. Put a 44" in the boat and a 40" northern. That about it. But it's better than work I guess.

Posts: 157 Location: Wausau/Phillips WI | On my home lake it's been my worst muskie catching year since 1984. Most days I can't even get a follow, the fish have just disappeared. But then my daughter comes up from Chicago and the first evening catches a 43.5 off the dock. Oh the humanity! But it helped make up her mind to move back to Northern Wisconsin. That and breaking up with her no fishing or hunting fancy man boyfriend of 6 years. The fishin part is always great but wishin the catchin was a little better. There's always tomorrow. Buddy
