I knocked the cups off two props in 4 days on my WI trip, one prop was brand new and with both the spare and the new one gone had to buy another one to fish(three in the boat now). Hate the aluminum props on the big motor, since even a tap at idle speed usually means the prop is a goner, but have never had any motor damage so I guess.

Another pair of sunglasses either over the side or blown out while trailering(don't tell my wife).(3 pairs of prescription sunglasses so far, one off the car roof, one off the gunnels and one ???).

Cracked the hydraulic cylinder on my trim unit last spring. A story I don't want to repeat, of course it was in waters I know well! Good insurance took care of most of that, well, most of that anyway.

First good day of fall fishing had a fish lay two treble hooks into me, one in the knuckle and one in the forearm about 3 inches from the wrist. Both buried, but the barb was squeezed down on the hook in the knuckle and it came out, but the rear hook of the bait had been replaced at some point and I had forgotten to squeeze down the barb on it. Had to get a couple from Sommerset to help me with the extraction. Lots of blood, thought I had hit the vein. Hook just would not come out due to the looseness of my skin in that area and difficulty getting a good angle to make the pull from. Finally got my jackknife and enlarged the entry wound and it slid out like butter at that point, but I will say that jackknife thing hurt a fair amount and my jackknife probably should have been sharper. Always carry a sharp jackknife, in case you need to do this. A little alcohol for anesthesia and nerves might be good too, plus I have heard it will kill germs too, if put in the right place. A nice little silver dollar sized hematoma and swelling in both areas and some antibiotics and a tetanus shot. Luckily ran into the doc the next day so I didn't have to visit the ER.

Caught my lead rope just in time to avoid watching the boat drift away. It was down to just a few threads when I checked it and cut it back to re tie.

Knocked the plastic corner off the back of my boat, still have it under the drivers seat, need to put it back.

Knocked the air vent portion of the gas tank, that sticks out of the side of the boat for some idiotic reason, off, and don't know whether I want to replace it or not, since the design will just end up getting knocked off again. It seems to function the way it is. Stupid design.

Have not found my 8 pound vinyl covered anchor that I never use but usually try and keep in the boat.

Currently have a short piece of anchor rope that I used to tie the lid on the cooler, re assigned as a pull rope for the electric. I hate the Minn Kota design on that stupid thing. It is constantly constantly eating pull ropes. You always end up about falling out of the boat when it tears up, and then it seems like you are in a bad spot on a windy day trying to work on the stupid thing and get something retied onto the dirty bugger. I usually check to make sure and replace it in the garage when it starts to go but my last one just let loose, and could not see the wear on it from the top.

Also on my minn kota have at least TWO of the bolts holding it together missing. It functions the way it is but that is another thing I need to get fixed. Last year had to have that little spring release replaced, another thing it works without but when you don't have it you have to lean over and slide the pin to the side before the motor sits down in the bracket.

Luckily this year I have avoided a couple of my past maintainance problems with my previous boat. No skeg sheared off at the gear housing. No having to create a shear pin out of fish hook to keep the trolling motor working and no having to use gum to secure wire to the foot control unit, which incidently is a bad idea, since it will start on fire when the current heats up the circuit and then you have to find another solution anyway, plus fix the burned wires.

I really do need some headlights for going through the wood at night on Cumberland to fish stripers in the spring, and probably should replace the running light on my boat with the wire hanging out, but if you shove it back in and quickly slam it down into the socket, it still works, or it has so far...

The three plugs I spotted recently lying in the bottom of the boat is probably enough, however they don't do you much good if you back it into the drink with all three lying in the bottom of the boat, as I did Tuesday Am, instead of uhm, being in the plug hole...

And your projects are?

ripped up my keel protector, the garmin 168 piece of crap took a crap on me and broke a vent plate that shouldn't have been designed there in the first place and then broke a ratchet strap on my trailer. not a bad year for the amount of time she was on the water.

hey jonny....why does the one in the back of the boat say were in 10 ft and the one in the front say 40....woops simulator!! well lets see, my trolling motor is about to slip off the bow into the depths of webster so santa can bring me a new one, and that garmin 160 on the bow is about to go bye bye as well. tired of it cutting out every hour and having to unplug and plug back in. a few baits loaned out have hit the bottom of the lake...but luckily this is the first year i havnt gone thru 3 pedastals on my passenger seat. guess dumping "fat ba$tard" wasnt such a bad idea! and no warped floor boards this year to replace! coincidence who knows?

2 new rims and tires for the boat trailer, a new starter, and a bunch of swearing. It will be timmy's floating piece of crap next year. I'm getting a new boat in spring.

Hey Jay, I use a dipnet to subdue a few and try to prevent getting hooks in me.....hahaha

But on the flip side, the nice ladies of Campbellsville know me on first name basis as I was the first guy they met that had been bitten by a fish....

The couple from Sommerset were pretty well pleased. Catfish jugging was going pretty slow till I drove over with the bait pasted to my arm and the blood dripping out the side of the boat. Now they had a good story to take home with them.

I am guessing from the way you fish that it simply wouldn't quit bleeding?

How many stitches was that?

And the ER bill was???

P.S. That must be a mean strain over there, the one that got me was only in the low thirties. Not very even tempered, even when young.

Dude, I think you need another job just cover your "regular" muskie fishing expenses. LOL!! I tried to be very frugal this year. The Tuffy treated me good and I really didn't have to fork out any extra cash for boat repairs. I had to spend $100.00 to replace my Lowrance X-67C on the bow, Lowrance was awesome since the unit was out of warranty by two months (of course) so they only charged the repair cost instead of the $350.00 new. I didn't even have to replace a trailer light bulb this year, I can't beleive it. I'm sure next year I will be nickel and dimed to death. Other than fuel costs I think I actually made money this year since I sold about 150+ baits and reels. But guess what now I want some more baits. Show season is coming and I'm sure I'll make up for the lack of expenditures during the season.

LOL, I wouldn't say they were regular. I do count on knocking the cups off a prop at least once a year, every year. Just seems unavoidable in the areas I tend to fish. But the cracked hydraulic was totally my fault, was looking across the lake and running up on a bar at the same time. But that other stuff is just normal maintenance that you try and fix when you quit fishing. I normally get stuff fixed in the summer, and then again when the water goes bad in the winter. Some people, if you can believe this, don't even go if they have something screwed up on the boat...I go as long as the vicegrips work and there is still bailing wire on the spool.

That fish thing was unusual though, since I had unhooked a whole bunch in the water this fall, thought I would have to work on that one, darned if I didn't have to! Oh well occupational hazard.

7 Stitches in the thumb, ouch. The bill came out to just under $600, with most of the cost due to a emergency room visit. Not a plesant feeling having a mid-forties fish hanging on my thumb.

I hear you FSF, I will still get out on the water as long as the boat floats and I can keep it that way.

$600??????? Which is worse, the pain from the cut? The pain of the ER bill? Or the pain of the ribbing you will probably get from everybody that views that pic?????

Now see, there was the cost saving I made by using the jackknife. That ER bill alone would have covered my payment on the cylinder and a new prop + 5 burts.

You ran outa duct tape, didn't you? I mean, that is always what I thought they made duct tape for, and if it was too loose, then you go to that black electrical tape and wind it on top of itself a couple of times.

Duct tape and electrical tape, big new rolls=$8
vs.
Stitches at the ER = $85 each X 7
Lost fishing time when they are biting........Priceless.

Let's see- maybe I really don't want to think about it!

Lightning damage to motor electronics- rectifier + ignition control module = ~$720

Trolling motor repairs- new cable + misc. ~$100

Haven't stored the boat yet- the rivers still open.

FSF- roflamo - add a $2 tube of superglue & you only need the duct tape!

Have fun!
