Installing a new 24v Minnkota bow mount and on the 2 power wires there is this warning note that say's to install a breaker between batteries and troller. Is this a common hook-up in this series and where do you get one?

They are refering to a circuit breaker. Any good marine dealer should have them. Be sure to mount as close to the battery as possible.

I stopped in at the local Marine Super Store and all he had was a in-line fuse that was 12 gage wire. This wasn't the right hook-up, I'm still looking.....

Thanks for the help,

Bruce

Bruce,

Gander Mt. has 30 and 40 amp that go right to the battery. At the store in Eau Claire they have them right by the Minn Kota accessories.

See ya next weekend at Sanks or Koepp's.

If you have a new MAX 80 or MAX 80 PRO, amp draw is 55 amps so you need a 60 amp fuse . 60 amp breakers are $$$$, go with a MAXIE type. Larger than the two prong auto style, but same style, holder is like $22.95 and the fuses are $2.95. You may have to educate your dealer about this as they have not been needed 'til now.

I'm still looking,
Sportsmans Whse gave me a phone number of the MinnKota repair service center in WestAllis. They have a breaker for the troller for $10.00.

I been running all weekend to find all the equipment to turn this pleasure boat more into a fishing boat. Kendor Marine had pedistall seats that I mounted under the back to back seats. I can now have the best of both worlds, tubing back to back, fishing pedistall. I installed a deck in the open bow that has support struts so that it sits over the cushions. I carpeted it and still need to install a seat rest for the trollermotor. I saw a good set-up at Gander Mountin.
Do any of you have the batteries mounted up front? I boat that I have is real stern heavy and I'm thinking about mounting the 2 batteries in the bow under the deck.
The season opener is Saturday, how can I be rushing with last minute problems I've had the whole winter!!!!

The breakers in the above link are labeled "Auto Reset" circuit breakers. So how is it they work? Seems like there should be some kind of manual intervention.

I picked one up at Fleet Farm a few days ago for about 7 bucks. They had 40 and 50 amp breakers. Mounts right to the battery. Way better than inline fuses. I melted my fuse in the middle of the night on the Fox in the middle of traffic.
