| ^ I hit similar trifecta in a 4 day period this August , 45” tank pike, 47.25” natural hybrid and a 52” pure. IMO the 52” muskie was the least impressive of the three. |

I'd pretty much agree with this. I've caught several 50"+ muskies and netted several for others. I've never even been in the boat with a 45" pike.
Would love to get a decent tiger sometime. Have only caught a few and the biggest was about 32". |

Location: Athens, Ohio | When I was 17, dad took me on a fly in trip where I got a pike they weighed at 22.5 pounds. Any idea what the length would be, can't really tell from the few pics I have.

| Mikie - just like muskie - pike come in many shapes vs length. with a weight of 22.5 pounds the fish was almost certainly in the 42-45" range - with something like 43.5" being the most likely length if it was a nice "healthy" specimen. |

Location: Brighton CO. | I would like to think that I was a great fishermen, of course in the past I used to work a lot of hours and when I wasn't working I was fishing. (I had a boat at that time) August of 1999 we found some big Pike here in Colorado. We caught a lot of Muskie sized Pike. I caught a 40" Pike and my buddy weighted it before letting it go only 13 pounds. At the time as long as my best Muskie but way thinner. Two mouths later I caught a 50" muskie fishing in Lake Minnetonka at the fall board meeting for Muskies INC, the meeting was in I think Forest City Iowa and most everyone fished the Iowa great Lakes we went up and fished Minnetonka. It made for a great story and a story was written and published in the Dec. 1999 Muskie magazine for Muskie INC members. I'm very proud or this fish but it only had a 19" girth not even close to 30 pounds but you take them as you can get em. It was kinda cool for a few years everyone wanted to talk about my fish. Then the next summer my friend who was with me for both catches call's me and say's "you son of a *#*#%#" you made another magazine article. WHAT! The 2000 fishing guide published by Colorado Division Of Wildlife had a yearly magazine and they had a story of Master Angler fish and they used the photo of my Northern. The magazine was old and off the shelf's so I drive all over metro Denver looking for a copy. I found one. Last fall I caught a 40" natural Hybrid in Wisconsin. Still looking for that long and fat Muskie.

Location: Athens, Ohio | Justin - thanks for the help on that. Yep, it was a real kicker of a fish. We were in northern Saskatchewan at a resort dad found on Field & Stream. It was our last day and the native guide took us on a portage to a small lake. One or two more casts and we have to go back; it was the second of the two that got me the fish. I thought dad was gonna fall from the boat watching me work the fish. After capture, it was up to me to don my rain coat and haul this still-kicking pike over my shoulder on the portage back. This was in 1971, I believe. m |

I got a 45.5” pike last year by Lake Huron. It wasn’t super fat otherwise I would’ve ordered a replica. Still awesome though! |

| Good post here... I usually use the stats from our group of muskie fishermen friends - about a dozen of us. Yeah, a 45" pike is rare indeed! The largest I have been part of was 45.5" and was caught muskie fishing. I got to be the net good guy on that one and it was a heck of an impressive fish. It is still the largest pike our group has caught. It was a figure 8 fish. i am unsure why my buddy has not gotten a replica of that fish yet as I think it is a once in a lifetime deal. Over the years we have seen/missed a couple others in that class. Our largest tiger muskie was 46" and was caught 30 years ago by my brother. Makes me think he should get a replica of that as well. I had one about 48" come up on my bait in a Twin Cities metro area lake probably 20 years ago. I think that is about it for tiger muskie sightings over 45". I do watch the 54 or Bust shows regularly and they seem to get at least one fish like that a year out of one of their "Tiger" muskie lakes. I'm unsure if there are only tigers there or if there are different species as well? But a big tiger is super cool with the awesome coloring and stripes and big red tail. Our group has caught numerous 50" muskies - but when it gets to like 52" that is a much less common fish to catch. Our group has 44 muskies 50 or better but only 15 that are 52" or better. So, in my opinion (which isn't much) I believe the big pike and tigers are much rarer to catch. Good luck fishing this fall if you get out! |

| I'd say for what its worth.
MY hall of fame would be:
50" Musky = True trophy
55" Musky = elite level trophy
40 inch pike = True trophy
45 inch pike = elite level trophy
30 inch walleye
10lb bass
175 inch buck
These are all rare in their own way and True Trophies as well.
Location has a lot to due with the size or measurement.

| 25+ Family/friends have caught their first Muskie in my boat, cool milestone from my perspective.. in fact a nephew was added to that list on the August trip, his first and in the 8 ,he also witnessed the crazy 3 consecutive day hat trick. Something we’ll never forget- lasting memories are usually tied to emotions- probably why musky become an addiction for many of us - can’t remember yesterday but can tell you every detail of 100+ “special ones”. Ha!
