Location: Minnesota. | Perhaps a dumb query but does anyone have a good way to remove old/piled up boat registration numbers so I can get down to the hull on a glass boat please?
I'd like to get mine cleaned off but dunno how to do it w/o buggering up my boats finish....
Thanks very much for any suggestions...

This is what I did with my UTV. However, that is some sort of plastic, not fiberglass. But it worked really well. Just enough heat to loosen adhesive and came right off. No damage to finish. |

Location: Michigan | Heat gun or hair dryer. I used a heat gun on the low setting to remove my decal and it came right off with now issues. |

| Hair dryer is the correct answer IMO, take a blade and get a corner loose, grab the corner with a tweezer or plier and heat on the front of the decals and pull with steady pressure. |

Side note. It is illegal to put stickers on top of the old ones in MN. I had a coworker who was ticketed by a grumpy (now retired) CO for doing that.
Wooow, unreal that they even made that legality and certainly one I was very unaware of - an' here I thought I knew danged near everything!!!

The first line of instructions for the WI registration stickers is "1. Remove all decals from previous years."
I was told the concern is that you could remove more easily and transfer to another boat. 2 boats, 1 set of registration stickers? |

Location: Lower Peninsula | Use Acetone (nail polish remover ) and a microfiber cloth. A hot sunny day is best but a heat gun or hair dryer can help.
Another thing is be careful to only use 100% acetone because some nail polish removers have dyes in them which will stain the gel coat. |

Location: NorthCentral WI | Hair dryer worked like a charm on mine this year. Used Goo-Gone to get a little residual adhesive off then rubbing alcohol to clean the surface before applying new stickers. |

| Xylene is what you need to use. Keep the rag wet and rub until gone. Will not affect the paint/finish what so ever. |

Location: Minnesota. | Well I used a nice, high quality hot air blow gun (used for thinning and applying epoxy to my shop stuffs) with various settings from very, very low to very high... Worked better than I could've guessed!
