| I’m considering a new Nitro Zv19 and trying to spec out a proper Minn Kota Ultrex trolling motor. Anyone use a 52” shaft on this boat or similar? I’ve used a 60” shaft Ultrex on a deep v, and find them a bit difficult to stow and deploy. I don’t fish rough water generally speaking

| I agree with you that the 60" is a lot of shaft length. I used a 54" on my Ranger Reata 1850VS and it was perfect for that boat. I think 52" would be too short for that boat. I am not sure about the Nitro, but I would think it is deeper than the Reata. If it is, a 54" would be too short. Someone else may chime in that has a Nitro.

Location: Walker, MN | Since it's a deep V boat, I'd go 60" for sure. If you ever see yourself spotlocking in waves, you'll want the 60". |

| I have a 52" on my nitro bass boat, and it will surface in the winds, you need a 60 and a 60 ultrex is a pain in the but since you can't have it set at max depth and pull it up and run the gas motor. You will need to lift it to at least 52" to stow it correctly.
Why not a terrova? |

| I plan on getting an Ulterra for my older 18' Pro V. Is there any kind of formula that can be used to determine the correct shaft length? I did a search and didn't find anything, but maybe didn't use the right parameters. Probably be my last trolling motor purchase, so would like to get it right. And shaft length is the only thing I am unsure of. |

| My current deep v is 23” from the gunnel to the waterline. Adding 22” (Per an article I read) would put that shaft at 45”
I had the 60” Ultrex and ended up raising it 8-9 inches up from max depth. Still anxious on what to get on a new Nitro Zv19
I realize 60” would be the safe play, but if I don’t really need it, I rather not wrestle a 6 foot (motor and head included)
behemoth. Keep in mind I don’t fish big water. Just lakes, and rivers in Kentucky.

Location: Walker, MN | I had a Skeeter WX 1900 with a 60" and it cavitated a whole bunch.
Actually my bigger boat works much better with a 60". Even though it's deeper, there is less pitching fore-and-aft. |

| If you aren't concerned about the $$, the Ulterra with auto deploy might be the way to go if you don't want to wrestle with it. I would go 60" shaft as well. Hard to imagine wanting a shorter shaft on the trolling motor on a deep V hull. Also, go with the max thrust you can afford. You'll never wish you had less trolling motor power... |

Location: On my favorite lake! | Get the 60 and have an authorized minnkota repair shop cut it down a few inches. Should be about $30 for them to cut it down. This way it won’t void warranty. |
