What is the value that they get from having you on the pro staff. If you can answer that and get that information in front of the right people at the target you should be in good shape.

Posts: 116 Location: winnipeg manitoba | getting sponsor can be tough. often it is not what you know but who you know, i suggest you put togethar a resume of your angling experience and target what you want. some people will give you product some will give you cash. i offer 3 levels for cash. depending on the level i give a guided trip, this way the company can reward clients or workers and write off the costs of sponsorship. matbe you could repersent a tackle company at a sports store opening sale as a prostaff member. there has to be some value for the $$$sponsorship. i have been very successful by using the 3 tier system for free trips.........if i can help further let me know...craig

Answer this question and the sponsors will be glad to work with you. First thing: Try to figure out how you can increase there buisness and/or service. Then come up with a game plan to show them how you are going to promote the product or service to others. Second: Put it down on paper and follow through with the plan. Third: Keep them informed on how you are doing and tell your sponsors how you have helped promote them throught the season. Fourth: Always be professional while fishing and wearing your sponsors names. Fifth: Good sponsors don't come easy, they are earned. Be patient with anything you get. Good teams attract good sponsors. You don't have to be the top team to make your sponsors happy, just help them as they have helped you. Make it a win-win situation. Another thing that works is to offer them something in return. I like to offer my sponsors a guide trip or some kind of promotional thing that they could offer someone to else. Lets say a full day guide trip for 4. My partner and I take out 2 clients each for the day and have a little fishing tournament between our boats. This way they can experiance some of the excitement of tournament fishing and learn a few things while fishing with us. Our sponsors could use this guide trip as some kind of promotional deal or use it anyway they choose. Its just a way my partner and I can do something for our sponsors in return for the things they do for us. This is a good example of a win-win situation for our sponsors. Everyone wins !! Tony, I don't have many answers for you but these are some of the one that have worked for me. I hope this will help you some. See you on the trail this year !!!
