Location: Woodstock, IL | I've always liked DisneyWorld and most of the movies they make. Whether it was deliberate support or their idea of humor, I don't like it. Petition signed.

Posts: 743 | blah blah...yea yea...i'm all for fishing and hunting... whatever you want to do. but, do we really need to be 'anti Peta' and always have anti peta threads every week or 2? are they really that powerful that they threaten our right/priviledge to hunt and fish? are they? Peta doesnt' seem to even have a presence in Indiana, so maybe i'm just not effected. i go fishing every chance i have and i have never ever ever felt any pressure from any peta outlet about not fishing..EVER. it's cool, i want everyone to fish and hunt until their hearts are content, and then some...but i just didnt' know there had to be an Anti Peta compaign to insure our future generations the ability to fish and hunt. Or to eat meat. i think sometimes over crazed outdoorsman take it to far, like the Peta folks themselves. and yes, i'm typing this w/ zero, no research about peta or exactly what they do. Hell, if i was ever to sign this petition, i might as well sign a petition to the Cartoon Network, or Laffy Taffy, for advertising food/candy which "influences their dietary choice"...blah blah blah... Mabye there is a weird little "battle" out there...i have just never seen it surface or felt it's presence. maybe the it's the 1%ers of Peta vs the 1%ers of hunting nuts...not real sure, i just wanted to posted becuase here on a musky board, AGAIN, there is ANOTHER anti peta campaign. Pretty soon we should start a campaign against the oil companies for advertising new marine oil..our kids shouldn't be influenced on what kind of oil to buy when they grow up. they should be able to make that decision on there own...blah blah blah (can you read the sacrasm?). Ultimately, kids are gonna eat what they want, what mom and dad make..i have a son. i doubt if NEMO changed too many children's eating habits. keep it reel tomcat

Location: Woodstock, IL | PETA is actually pretty radical tomcat. They disrupted a "teach a kid to fish" outing this past summer with picketing and boisterous claims of cruelty. Nice way to preach to children. We all have a right to our opinions, I just don't like organizations like Disney backing a radical group like that even if they do have a history of being controversial (ever been to DisneyWorld during gay rights day?)

Posts: 384 Location: Eagle River, Alaska | Attitudes such as yours Tomcat, are exactly why PETA is making such inroads. They are extremely well heeled and both relentless and ruthless in pursuit of their anti-hunting and fishing agenda. Sportsman who feel just because they are not currently in YOUR backyard they won't be there soon are what make fighting them so tough. They have gotten their propaganda into many elementary school systems and now Disney too. Underestimating them gives them all that much more room to make headway. They frequently don't announce themselves as PETA but if there are any antihunting/fishing proposals anywhere they are sure to be involved somewhere in the background. This IS important to do everytime they rear their vegetarian heads!! BrianW

Posts: 1294 Location: Stevens Point, Wi. | Tomcat, your self professed ignorance of PETA is exactly why you shouldn't make light of this petition or other posts regarding their actions. They are a highly organized and financed group that has,and can create severe problems for all animal consumers. Instead of making light of those interested in stopping their inroads, get some education on what they are attempting to do.

Posts: 1335 Location: Chicago, Beverly | Peta was real succesfull screwing the outdoorsmen in europe. They are affiliated with a organization that will use violence to help their cause. North American Fishing Club's magazine had a very good article about the two groups about two years ago. Is the link still good? I can't get it to work... Edited by kevin 11/1/2003 12:31 PM

Posts: 158 Location: Eagan, MN | Tomcat, part of the reason you don't yet feel threatened by PETA is because others are fighting this battle for you. PETA has identified you as an enemy, I suggest you reciprocate. Don't wait until it's too late.
