Posts: 750 Location: Minneapolis, MN | I built a pedestal box out of vinyl downspout using liquid nails to attach the cut pieces. Now I need to figure out what to use for feet so that the whole thing doesn’t slid around on the base. I had looked at felt furniture cushions but figure those probably won’t hold up very well. There is no base to screw anything into as tubes are open at the top and bottom. Any suggestions on what to use?

Love the use of jumper cables as clamps. That's using your noggin. ![]()

Posts: 84 | Maybe rubber type auto floormat.....trim to fit the bottom, silicone in place. If you can get one with the small protruding nubs on the bottom, they don't slide. Put in a few drain holes too. I am talking about 4 sections, cut to fit into or over the 4 corner pieces of drain pipe.....or you could silicone the whole mat to cover the bottom ,then trim it if that works. Not pretty but functional.

Posts: 1023 | Just wrap duct tape around the pedestal until it fits snugly. That's what I did and it worked fine.

May want to search "edge protection " on ebay. Lots of products pop up that may work

Good idea, attacking it from another direction. A couple layers of foam pipe insulation might offer a snug fit also and be easy to remove if wanted.

There isn’t a lot of wiggle room so I could certainly do that. However what I’m really looking to address is the fact that the pedestal base is convex and thus tops out about an inch above the deck. So I wanted the feet to support the outer edges.

Posts: 1283 | I would go get a piece of flat plastic/acrylic etc big enough to fit the entire base, cut to size, silicone the down the downspouts to it, drill drainage holes then add rubber feet/legs similar to what Just in case uses. All this can be found at any hardware store. Heck if you have a large old white cutting board laying around that could work for a base.

Posts: 335 Location: Minnesota | I built mine with PVC pipe and sounds like I have a similair pedestal base. I have never worried about feet on the outer edges. The pedestal box doesn't spin around on the pedestal post.

Posts: 994 Location: Minnesota: where it's tough to be a sportsfan! | did one back in the day this way. Used PVC pipe split it in half, cut grooves for the drain spout so PVC would fit up tight to the drainspout. I then bought some rubber feet that had a screw on. Drilled holes in PVC added feet. That thing is still around somewhere, so it lasted.
