Posts: 180 | Looking to make an upgrade on my hg. It sounds like the ljv is they way to go? Does this handle make a big difference? Which hole is best to use, the one closest to the handle or furthest away? Im assuming furthest away to create the most torque? Does anyone have any suggestions on the best place to order one? Thanks again and dont be afraid to share your experiences with this handle on the hg!

Posts: 410 Location: With my son on the water | Zinox When you say both of yours do you mean on a PG & a PH? Do you think a person really needs it for the PG? Thanks

Posts: 180 | Will the ljv handle engage in the middle of the cast and blow out the gears on the tranx? Ive read there is no counter balance or does this not matter on the tranx?

I actually have an LJV handle on the longest setting on my PG. And you thought 10's and 13's were easy before..

Posts: 180 | For those that have this on the hg is it really that much of a difference? Not sure if its worth the extra 40 from Dave's..

Posts: 1638 Location: Minnesota | Just my 2 cents . But a reel is a tool and as you modify it your asking for problems. If you want to use it for big blades just buy a PG and be done. Like i said just my 2 cents.

Posts: 1084 Location: Aurora | I remember a past thread discussing this modification arising from need due to the factory handle on the HG bending upon hook set during the rip/reel/rip/reel/set while fishing pounders and like style baits. Apparently, while ripping/retrieving to the side, most fisher-persons unconsciously use the handle during the sudden hook set and it was bending. Bending it back made it that much easier to bend again on the next hook set so it needed to be replaced. Whether or not the replacement handle used to solve the above issue was of the same type being discussed here, I can't remember. Pikemaster and/or BNelson may be able to expand on this for further enlightenment.

Location: Contrarian Island | yah, i put the stock HG handle on a Revo Toro 6.4 and upon hookset with baits like dawgs I sweep hard to the right and my hand on the handle caused it to bend... I don't use the Tranx for dawgs tho it is a good reel for that I do think I'd end up bending the stock or LJV handle the way I hold on to the rod/reel/handle... I do think the longer LJV handle or I even think the one I put on mine was the 16NA handle (longer than stock HG handle) could benefit the PG as well.
